I first noticed the sore 6 weeks ago and was diagnoted with GH 12 days ago. I just finished the prescription for 10 day twice a day 1 gram tablets of valacyclovir and have started suppresive treatment on valaclylovir 500mg tablets once a day but there has been no sign of my sores getting better and they have even gotten worse. There are three around the inner lips of my vagina and the one has grown from the size of a pencil eraser to about the size of a nickel. I dont know what to do, I try to sit in front of a fan with my legs spread to dry the are because I know its best to keep the area dry but I work and am a full time student so i cant do that very often. I'm going back to my doctors tomorrow because she said this isnt normal but I'm wondering if anyone here can help me as well?

That is unusual for herpes to last this long. How were you diagnosed? By swab?

no, by blood test. I'm still waiting for the results of the swab to find out which strain i have.

Glad you got it swabbed to confirm whether it's even herpes. You'd normally expect a first outbreak to last anywhere between 2-4 weeks, and the antiviral meds should have some impact.

Im trying to learn all I can and I guess the blood test only tests for antibodies which would show up for either hsv1 or 2. Do you think since my sores are only getting worse I could have something else? I believe I was only tested for hsv, chlamydia and another thing I cant remember right now since it was negative.

What type of herpes blood test did you have done and what were your specific results? Justvcurious. Yes, it could be something else. There have been people on here who presented with what seemed like herpes, but it turned out to be something else, like a nasty staph infection.

I'm not sure.. I only got the call saying it came back as positive. How would I get the specific results? I'll have to be sure to ask tomorrow when I see my doctor.

Ask for a copy of your lab report. They should give it to you. I always ask for mine. Good practice, imo!

Fortunately, my symptoms aren't like any on here. Bactine usually calms me for a moment but your doctor would be able to tell you if there is a prescription that would help.
