corneal edema has kicked in an hour after the surgery. will post details when it clears.

at 3.45 PM the corneal edema seems to reducing. i am able to type this on my phone without problem. i would like to think that my visual acuity is pretty good at near, intermediate and far.
i am still very dilated so i see a hollow halo around lights the halo also has two arcs of light on right and left. the light itself does not have any halo like the symfony.
i had -1 astigmatism and a toric was not used. i also asked for the non yellow clareon and i cannot differentiate between tecnis color and clareon color.

"i also asked for the non yellow clareon" As far as I remember there was the clear and blue blocking versions never seen mention of a yellow version.

Blue light blocking lenses have a slight yellow tint to them, at least in the photos of the IOL. They are made to simulate the natural lens.

I see thanks for the clarification did not know that for some reason I was thinking about my previous glasses sometimes having a purple or blue reflection off them. Maybe that was for glare I forget now.

On glasses what you see is the light that is being rejected by the lens coating. In IOLs with blue light filtering they are blocking some of the blue light with a yellow tinted lens. There are a couple of reasons for doing that. First they are duplicating the colour balance of a natural lens which is not clear. The second reason is to reduce chromatic aberration. This is when the light colours separate when being refracted by the lens. It contributes to image quality reduction, and is being reduced by the blue light filtering. It is claimed to improve contrast sensitivity in dimmer light.
.
Interestingly J&J has traditionally had clear lenses, and Alcon was the primary manufacturer of blue light filtering lenses. Now I see that J&J has introduced what they call Optiblue IOLs. They appear to be basically doing the same thing, but I believe J&J calls them violet light filters (which happens to be right next to blue on the spectrum). It may be a patent thing, but I suspect the object is most likely to try and reduce chromatic aberration like Alcon does. If you google it and compare it to an Alcon blue light filter lens with the images option in google what I see is that the Optiblue lens kind of looks like a greenish yellow colour, while the Alcon is more of a pure light yellow -- at least to my eyes! And, I am not sure how accurately the images on line replicate what the actual lens looks like.

ron do you have the yellow / blue light clareon?

I have an AcrySof IQ in one eye and a Clareon monofocal in the other. Both are blue light filtering.

also the barrett reading for far is -0.4. but that is not really impacting far.
i will evaluate contrast loss and my main problem of lens edge positive dysphotopsia tomorrow.

the dilation was there at 5AM. i can tell only because i had the permanent lens edge halo. as of 8AM i think the dilation is reducing permanent halos are gone but now experience the lens flickering.
if i get lens edge light ring with panoptix, it will be half the size or tecnis. last night i could see the tecnis ring and panoptix ring concentric to each other.
also the near vision is fluctuating. right now it is better than yesterday for black on white background typing on this forum.
another lesson from last night is that since i dont have a natural lens anymore i cannot compare loss of contrast. panoptix contract appears to be similar to symfony.

I got Panoptix in my left eye two weeks ago. The contrast loss seemed like a lot when compared to right eye (natural lens with contact). I had right eye done this week and, obviously, cannot compare the contrast loss now. I can say that I am seeing so well that I am not going to worry about what I lost and just focus on what I have gained. Otherwise, I might drive myself mad. I am surprised at how well I am seeing at all distances so soon. My left eye does not see as well as the right but everything is still settling. I hope the best for you.

i know what you mean. the near is very good. at 29 hours i can see the concentric circle on reflections of the sun on cars. that us something i am not too bothered by. i hope it stays the same. with Symfony i could not see the ground clearly. with panoptix i can. they have really hit the refractive sweet spot. i was 20/25 distance at doctor check up. they didnt even check reading and i am probably j1 or j1+ for acuity. i can see the twinkle in the eye. i had some flickering at 24 hours and get some light glare when the sun is right above me.

what do you mean when you say left eye is not seeing as well? did u get toroc or non toroc?

I got non-toric in both eyes. I measured 20/30 in my left eye last week. After my first surgery, everything seemed hazy and washed out. I had blurry vision that didn't clear up for over a week. I expected the same with the right eye and shocked that by day two, I was already forgetting that I had just had surgery. It is a slight difference but enough to notice my right eye sees more sharply at all distances. The doctor said not to worry about the left eye and it takes several weeks to settle and everyone responds/recovers differently. He also said neuro-adaptation would be easier once I had the other eye done. the ghosting I was seeing with just the left eye done is almost not noticeable now. I have to concentrate to see it. When I got the left eye done, for several days I could see the rings of the lens but that has gone away in the left eye. I am still experiencing in the right eye - day 3 today.
