My PT is very had on me I feel he's pushing so hard because I can't reach past 80 rom.Ok so my real problem is the knee cap in front of my knee it's hard as a big rock and when they PT has me lie on my stomach at pull knee up with belt as far as I can my knee is so rock hard it won't bend and is very painful 😖. Is anyone going threw this or has anyone had this happen. I take pain pills before I go it's not helping...🙈

I personally would ask dr. Why your knee has that knot like that after that many weeks.or you have totally over worked your knee. Please go to dr. And let them look you over before you continue pt. or it may delay your healing. best of luck.

It sounds like to me scar tissue built up, did you go to pt right after surgery? If not it only takes a week or two without it for scar tissue to form. Your doctor may have to go in again to clean it out!

That method is akin to voodoo. Tell your therapist to get in the 21st century. Never allow anyone ....or yourself....to drive you into pain. Sure therapy is going to hurt and you'll ache but pain, no. They used that method on me and I can tell it would have me in tears. 9 years later....a revision......same therapist......complete different protocol. I asked why.....his answer......education. The old way proved to be more bad than good.

My advice for what its worth......complete rest foe two or 3 days except for gentle muscle tightening and movement. Elevate, hydrate (really pour down the water). When you start back.....slow..........slow in every aspect. No more pain. Ask for a new therapist if this won't comply

We are all agreed - stop this now !

See your GP and if he/she  hasn`t the experience to define the problem then you want an urgent referral back to your surgeon.

You must establish whether this a real problem or just one that needs longer physio.

You don`t say if your physio is NHS or Private. Either way no-one should be pulling your leg with a belt !  Insist on someone else. It will be back to basics at home for bending - massage, bending to discomfort - hold for 5 while deep breathing then release.Repeat say 5 times. Massage again after.    You can do this 3 or 4 times a day. Warm your knee before you start and don`t forget to rest.

It will be a long haul but stick with it and good luck.

You need to review with your surgeon. We all have problems and we all react differently. My TKR was back on May 12th and also had MUA on August 8th and I'm still at only 75degrees. I'm trying to get a flexonator or dynasplint to help with this. As far as the scar tissue it is painful but I worked it every day and my PT also spent time on it. Are you trying too hard to speed the recovery process? Maybe you need a break and resume with mild exercise. Of course I can't really talk as I'm still at square one here but my pain is just about gone and I do see slight progress. Don't let your PT force you too much, it just takes time.

I am experiencing the same thing. I'm 12 weeks out and have been stuck at 90 degrees. I hate it, but my doc wants to do a manipulation, and soon. My pt quit hurting me bc I wasn't progressing, so he said there was not point for the torture. We are now just working on strengthening to be ahead of the game after my next procedure

So sorry you are going through this, in JUNE 2014, I HAD a TKR, rom never got pass 70, so 3 months later doctor did a manipulation, he said while i was out he was able to force bend my knee this way and that away, so me being out of it don't remember any of this, another young lady that had her surgery performed the samebday as mines in June was also back to have hers manipulated as well, when i came through after letting the meds wear off, as i was about to leave she said she heard me screaming so loud, that the nurses was running around like they head cut off, because she over heard one of the nurses say, that poor thing referring to me that, the doctor had to dope me up more because apparently he thought he gave me enough for me to be out but i felt all the bending he said he did, but aside from that my doctor after my follow up appointment even with pt, still my knee would go pass 70, so after 2 more months of torture, my doctor told me its nothing left that he can do, but that i wouldnhave to live with it, and that its nothing he did wrong, so i ask him to referr me that i wantedva second opinion, he explain to me that he would have to discuss my case to that doctor firsy, which made since to me, so 1 month later i saw the referring doctor drove nearly 2 hours to see this doctor, only to sit in thebroom with me to say he had spoken to my Othropedic and they but agree that its nothing neither can do and he diagnosed me having CRPS, ok first off, he asking to try and raise my leg, which i could not, then he said oh yes CRPS is what we have here and unfortunate its nothing he could do about it and that i will have to live with it, my original othropedic doctor sends me a letter in the mail tobinforms me that he elwill no longer will be practicing at the clinic and that if i would like to see the other to othropedic doctors there which are his brothers, well i decided thatbi want my life back so i went to the older brother, because he had 28 years experience, so i just knew he would find out what was going on, so he had me continue pt for 3 more months to see what will happen, which still nothing it went from 70 to 65 degree bend, so he discuss wuth me to go back in and do a manipulation, kool no problem, he went on to say that his younger brother only been othropedic fir 10 years and that he is still wet behind the ears, kool i said to myself this doctor is going to be the one fix what his brother messed up, well he explained to me that he will tide down my knee so that i will see the visual sight that my knee actually did bend during the manipulation, now i am really excited, i ask could they record it, he said no its going to be criwed, just trust him when i awake from anesthesia, my knee will be bent tide down to proved that it bend, well i was so excuted that the day of surgery, all couod do is wait to wake up to see my knee actually did bend, well when i woke up and seen that ny knee was not tide diwn and bith leg straight i was p*ssed, usually i would see the surgeon after surgery, but i did not, my wife did and he told her that my knee bend all the way back and that he putting me back in pt asap, the next day to be exact, so my wife ask what hapoen, why did you not tie my leg back like he said, he said that he don't see the need to, that we would have to take his word for it. Man was i disappointed, here it Is since i kept complaining i ask him to referr me to the Cleveland Clinic, he did, the doctor order an aspiration ultrasound of my knee, they found that my knee cap was misalignment so by the very first doctor nit removing my patella the knee doctor, told me up front its been 2 years and some months with not being able to bend the knee ir to put weight on it that even if he do the surgery and put in the plastic patella, he said it my help and it may not, well it is October 11,2016. Still very paiful, still walk wuth a bad limp and still can not bend or raise it. This was my 11 surgery total on this knee and the doctor said seriously, he would not advise for no one to go in it again because its so weak the bones that is and that it could get infected and cayse of infection would be very high might would call it to be amputated, so that was it for me ill just live with it, again sorry thus happened to you, God Bless keep adking question to you can not ask anymore.

I just left my PT office and she said that you should ask the PT to check your joint mobility- as in posterior and anterior glides of the tibia...If they are not moving as they should, that can mean that the joint capsule is scarred down and it will be harder to gain back the mobility- And you may need a manipulation. Also lying on your stomach to bend the knee is harder because the quad and hip flexors are on stretch more and it's harder to get any mobility through the knee joint...

    Hope that helps!
