    Hi Sara,

I am on Amisulpride. I was on a medium dose but Akathasia was really bad with me so I am now on a low dose. The side effects are difficult to isolate because I am also on Venlafaxine and epilepsy medication. Obviously I get the Akathasia and I also have weight gain. The anti-psychotics reduce epilepsy threshold and I have only had seizures since being on anti-psychotics.

Overall, despite the side effects they have been good for me. I was in a real state with intrussive thoughts. I felt I could sense 'other people's' negative thoughts about me in my head, stuff like I am disgusting, weak, dangerous, pedophile, pervert, dirty etc. This was all part of my GAD. The thoughts were very distressing and the anti-psychotics have cured that almost completely. For me they were a necessary evil. On the whole I find the Venlafaxine to have worse side effects though.

Overall I have no regrets but they are a bit of a chemical sledgehammer. Talk to your Dr and understand why he is recommending them. Is your anxiety not improving?

    Take care, BW, BM.

My anxiety has improved a bit with Pregablin but I've had to reduce the dose due to side effects, I still seem to have totally irrational thoughts which make me miserable simular  to those you've mentioned, so my specialist has recommended Flupentixol, I just worried about taking it , take care x

Just make sure they dont give you the tremor thing. I usally never say stuff like this but i wouldnt take any medicine that makes you tremor as a side effect or a permanent  effect. Thats extreme for anxiety. I know they use that in some other forms of mental illness but i dint see the extreme use on this for oanic attacks or anxiety disorder. Im guessing the ither two meds arent working. Have you been diagnosed with something else aside from anxiety disorder? How long where you in the other two? Are the dosages too low? Too exreme to me to treat this disorder like that. Maybe see someone else.

Have you discussed this with him? Its very valid with cetain medications. I kniw sime doctors are cold and rude but some will care and take the time to go thru this woth you. I dont know all the meds available out there at all. I heard of a few. My concern would be involving the side effects if they can cause damage. Id also like to know the avenue of thought he has in terms of therapy or ways to help you thru this aside from the pills. Do you know what i mean? It is so easy to sit there with your pad and pen and tell someone take the pills theres no we can do. Its poor doctoring. There are many treatments out there and if that has been what you have been told look around at different options. This is your life not theres.maybe a different dr. Would have a refreshing perspective.
