I would get a second opinion. Most doctors won't put you on HRT if you have a history of breast cancer in your family, especially if it was a close relative. I was on the combipatch for three months and it made me bleed, so I quit taking it. I was on it again for six months and it bothered my fibroids. The third time was less than three months, because it made me feel awful and my hair became dry and brittle and started to fall out. I got off it and never looked back. But everyone is different. Good look to you in your menopause journey. ((((hugs)))))

If the gel is estrogen based with progesterone, then it balances it each other out. Estrogen dominant hrt, like some birth control pills would not be a good option for you. However, taking estrogen dominant pills or gels will have an effect with prolonged use, like 3 years or more. If you're concerned about it asked your doctor if the amount of estrogen in the gel is higher than the progesterone if it is then ask her/him to changed it. Hope this helps.
