at 52 yrs and in excellent shape ( did cross fit 6x/wk) i had a RHP IN july 2019. due to being on great shape, didnt go as planned. despite physical therapy, could never apply a great deal of pressure on leg and worse yet hip flexor hurt terribly and couldnt bend over. had to get hip extension in jan 2019 where dr went back in and cleaned up hip flexor and extended. Surgeon said bc i was in such good shape the hip flexor was so tight that it had shredded as a result of rubbing back and forth against new hip. still having trouble walking up stairs, sleeping and certain inflection positions ( getting up off toilet, out of car, tying shoelaces etc) . now dr is saying have too much scar tissue due to two surgeries and have to have procedure to help eliminate. has anyone had this trouble? its been two years of pain and im depressed

I'm not surprised you are feeling depressed anyone would be after going down the route you are going down, I'm sure things will be better once your muscles improve, ask for hydrotherapy it's amazing

I went through a similar depression, more like super frustration at the ineptness and callousness of the surgeon who seemingly refused to acknowledge that I was in pain and could not walk without a cane. It is clear that my femur was broken during a hip replacement in Feb. of '18 but not recognized until 18 days later when an x-ray showed the fracture. Second replacement took 3 hours, lots of transfusions and left me with permanent ambulation problems which have been dismissed by the ortho surgeon.... A year of PT and no improvement. Now going to a pain and rehab specialist with some hope that the greater trochanter which is no longer attached to the femur will be addressed in such a way that I can at least be able to walk as well as I did before the first surgery.

Now....I urge you to think of your situation as a problem to be solved, first as something you can handle in everyday life, pain and all and secondly, keep looking for competency among the medical personnel who may be able to offer help. I was a victim and now I am not. You can do the same. The surgeon who doesn't help is probably doing you a favor since that surgeon probably doesn't have the skills to help. Take charge. Good luck.
