Has it taken 7 plus months on Fluoxetine to recover from depression?

I have been on Flu for almost 7 months. 17 weeks of that has been on 20mg.  I tried 6 or 7 ADs for short periods of time and couldn’t tolerate them.  I have depression and anxiety. I think the anxiety is from the AD but the Psych Dr does not agree.

I have seen some improvement in that I do not constantly cry and ruminate on negative thoughts but still very depressed and anxious. How long does it take not to be depressed?  Also depresssion makes me feel sick.

Thank you Julie. That’s what I needed to hear. I too took it years ago and it worked in two weeks and never had a side effect.  I’ll stick with it, but it sure is hard.

Susan I am on 20 mg but started with 5 almost 7 months ago. Yesterday was a good day for me and today is better. I have had almost no good days, hours or minutes for the past year.

HI there, was it hard with side effects going up to 20mg, I also feel a bit angry on them, but the menopause is not helping neither, not much appertight as well, glad you are feeling better

Susan, I was on 5 to 15 mg for 12 weeks before going to 20 mg. I never adjusted to any of it before going up. I have read from people on various sites that it takes 12 to adjust to a higher dose.  I am sure that’s an individual  response. My main problems  are feeling sick, stomach issues and terrible anxiety. I felt too bad to get angry. I would think that menopause plays a part. I know how hard it is; we all do. It’s pure misery but will come to an end.
