Hi Paula how long had you been on HRT and why did the doctor recommend you come off it? Or was it a personal choice to come off? If you were still getting hot flushes that would indicate the HRT wasn't at a high enough dosage.

Hi am66 I was on hrt for 4 years the doctor wanted me off them because of my symptoms, and to see if there are side effects I was on a high dose .

    Hi Paula

I think the doctor should look at alternatives for you, rather than just calling it a day. I take bhrt and menopace xx

Hi Sassyr I don't think my doctor likes hrt I as getting bad headaches a few months back and wanted me to stop then but after a few weeks I was fine . She said to go to Holland and Barrett to see what they got , I had very bad anxiety when i started 4 years ago and I know hrt helped just hoping it does not come back .

I am coming off hrt after 5 years. I have been advised to do it very slowly. There are a lot of foods that contain oestrogen so I'm eating those and also taking a supplement of concentrated linseed. It is no picnic and I feel like hrt was just delaying the inevitable.

I was told to come off mine by halving the daily dose for 2 months then taking half every other day for 2 months. I am very surprised your doctor said just stop. Your body meeds to adjust gradually. I eat a lot of different seeds as I cant have dairy but dairy is good for oestrogen.

Hi Paula, only do what you think is right. I've spent 20 years avoiding hrt advised by doctors, only to have chronic issues with my thyroid and auto immune disorders. I went to see a private specialist to talk about options, and was prescribed bhrt. Could be that synthetic hrt isn't for you xx

      Hi Susan,

Honestly the best money I ever spent. I had an appointment with a doctor who understands the benefits and the options and is really clear about why hrt is so important. I left feeling like I'd really been listened too and for the first time, someone had a plan. Bhrt has been fine for me. Its a little awkward then going back to being under the GP because they genuinely don't know enough about it. I'm planning on paying again next year to have a follow up. If you can, I would ... Apart from anything else , a nice lady made me a hot chocolate with whipped cream while I waited for my prescription! 😃
