Having a bad day 😥

I have been on Sertraline for two weeks now, 4 days at 25mg and 9 at 50mg. Today I feel absolutely awful! Low, anxious, tired, headache, no appetite! I am so scared these tablets are not going to work and I'll be like this forever - I feel very tearful today. Looking for a virtual hug 🤗 And some encouragement that these are just side effects of starting Sertraline

Hello, I know exactly how you feel but hopefully I can give you some hope that things will get better. I started taking Sertraline nearly 8 weeks ago and the beginning was not a pleasant experience. I'm taking Sertraline for anxiety which was taking over my life and the first 3-4 weeks of being on the tablets I felt worse than I did before. I had awful headaches, dizziness and just felt like I couldn't function but I'm pleased to say that in week 5 suddenly things started getting better. I'm now in week 8 and I'm not 100% but I feel better than I have in about a year so hang in there 😊 Things generally get worse before they get better. We are all incredibly strong to go through this process and don't worry if it takes a little longer for you, give yourself time to recover. All the best. Sending you a virtual hug 🤗 xx

Thank you for you kind reassurance, I am taking it for anxiety too. I have been suffering for two years and had numerous failures with medications I am just scared this one is going to go the same way. I suffer with terrible side effects. Hardly got out of bed today as felt so rough...... fingers crossed this'll be the one for me!

I'm in the same boat as you but I'm on day 12 of 50mg sertilene after coming off citalopram, had a bad night sleep only bout 2 hours. Woke up with panic and a wave of anxiety, feel all tense and scared. I just want to get better but I just can't see the light at the end of a tunnel at the moment

Please hang in there, it will get better. Like you, in the first couple of weeks I didn't feel any inprovement, in fact, I think I felt worse, but after 4 weeks things got better and now 9 weeks in I'm feeling great. I'm sleeping through the night and don't get those awful feelings of anxiety on waking. I've been on 50mg from the start and it seems to work for me. Please persevere and you will get better and your Dr should be setting up regular reviews too. Stay strong.

Hey Tom, sorry to hear you are going through this too!! It's utter crap isn't it! How are you feeling now? I had a couple of reasonable days, meaning anxiety was 7 instead of 10 but today I feel a bit tearful!! Like you that light at the end of the tunnel is very dim at the moment!!

Please stick with, it does get better, I'm on my 8th (or 9th?) week now and am feeling so much better. Like you, the first 2-3 weeks I didn't feel much improvement but after about 4 weeks I noticed a change. I've been on 50mg from the start and it seems to work for me, I'm sleeping through the night and don't get those awful feelings of anxiety on waking and feel more encouraged to get out and about. Hang in there, you will get better :-)
