Hi everyone,
Here's little info about me, I'm 25 and have been a smoker for 5 years and quitted around 1/2year ago because I felt sick.
I kept having regurgitation and pressure behind my sternum which moves around to my left chest and neck. This kind of sickness has bothered me for months and I finally had the guts to go to the er two days ago due to a sharp pain to my stomach, back and head.
The doctor suggested me to do an upper endoscopy tomorrow, and I'm scared I might be revealing something serious about my body condition. Would it be cancer? Would it be incurable?
I'm just scared, please help and reassure me.

Hi Marc,
Statistically, the chances of it being cancer in someone your age with your symptoms are just about zero! Far more likely to be gastro-oesophageal reflux or even a small gastric ulcer, both of which can be treated. Also possible that they'll find nothing at all, which often happens. Sometimes we just go through periods of having odd pains or other symptoms without ever discovering the reason.
Gastroscopy is the best way to find out what - if anything - is going on, so you're doing the right thing.

Thank you for the reassurance, I'm heading to the hospital right now, hopefully I will have the results within 24 hours. And finger crossed what you said.
The doctor mentioned I might have health anxiety and I am always paying too much attention swallowing, which might be another factor why I have esophagus pressure/pain.
Anyway, thanks a lot, it was reassuring.
