Hi, sounds like a migraine. Propranolol will stop you getting them. I take citalopram and propranolol 80mg, but the slow release ones. Took them for 3 months last year and put half a stone on. I stopped and lost it straight away so I'm convinced they make you gain weight. They do help with my anxiety after a while, but I'm thinking the benefit is not enough to justify the weight gain. They are supposed to slow your heart, but I feel mine speeding up later on in the day. Very strange!!

Hi there sarahbee, I agree with Amy THAT sounds like Migrane!!!! Which are evil things. I suffer with migraines for hell years,.Recentely, my migraines so bad over Christmas my doctor put me on Propanolol, as well as Sumertription. The propanolol I take is a slow realise one 80 mg a day. Took me 3 months to actually start working (to b fully in your system: for me I guess because my migraines were so server). These are great I Yale it same time each day and I Do Not have anything like before which is amazing. I have been taking propranolol now for 5 months and to be honest I havent really put on very much weight, even if and when it starts to happen I will not stop taking them NEVER. It depends how you look at it DON'T continue with propranolol and put on weight or continue and put on weight? Depends which is important to you, I for one will continue I would rather put the weight on than have any awful migraines. But honestly If anyone suffers migraines like you and me Propanolol is fantastic trust me in a few weeks u will feel 100% better. I still take my sumertription as still get migraines, but nothing at all like before, prbably more like a headache? Which is ace!!!!!!!!.good luck.

    Hi Sarahbee...and fellow migraine sufferers

I agree wholeheartedly with Michelle05502 comments...which is worse, a few extra pounds (more than a few in my case) or the horrendous headaches ???? I know my choice.

I have started to shift the weight slowly but sure! I think the propranolol does cause weight gain, but it my case because the headaches we gone, i started to enjoy food more and gained my appetite back...........

Good luck and stick at it!
