Health Anxiety over my heart.

Is it possible to be in fight or flight 24/7?

Back in October when my doctor told me he would send me too see a cardiologist (3 weeks now, yay) I started to concentrate a lot on that area, so when I had panic/anxiety attacks they would go from palpitations to skip beats, hard beats, slow beats whatever lol. Ever since December I have been crippled by these, apart from I went one month free without them and thought I was getting better. Anyway these awful things have given me really bad health anxiety over my heart, I feel like I won't get any peace of mind until I have seen my cardiologist, its the first thing I think of when I wake up and last thing I think about before I go to sleep at night.

Everyone has told me, even my counselor, that I'd be having horrific symptoms and would be in hospital. Anyone have health anxiety about they're heart? What symptoms do you have?

😊x

All the time! I have even seen the Cardiologist and ER Drs and my PCP and STILL feel like they are missing something despite them saying it is not my heart. Its like a broken record in the mind. sad

Hi, yeah mine was and is terrible.

I had a panic attack twice and ended up in A&E convinced I was having a heart attack.

I have palpitations, and sharp pains on the left side but it's apparantly all just anxiety.

I know what you mean, the gap between doctors and specialist is the worst period ever! I got refferred to my cardioligist, and it took me like 3/4 weeks to get into the cardioligist's office. those 3/4 weeks dragged like hell, my life come to a complete stop, i was googling everything, convinced i had numerous heart diseases etc, finally got to the cardioligists office, did all the tests ECG, 72 hour ecg and an echocardiogram, all came back normal. massive weight off my shoulders, but im still not convinced my hearts right, but thats health anxiety for you.

I wish mine took 3/4 weeks, I've been waiting 8/9 months lol Definitely doesn't help mind, my flutters etc started as soon as the doctor put the thought into my head, to see a cardiologist lol! It does consume you a little, especially with everything that you feel etc. X

Arya, You're describing my life! My dad died of a heart attack quite young so I think my fear stems from this. I too am convinced the docs have missed something.
