Health anxiety probs

Hi this is my first post and first time on here. Last week I was sure I had lymphoma as lump on my neck which doc said was a cyst and nothing to worry about! This week I feel I'm having a brain tumour and going to die soon and leave my 3 year old daughter and this terrifies me especially as I'm a single parent! I constant feel something is wrong with me. Was at doc today and he said not worried about a brain tumour but I am and still think I have. He said its anxiety and prescribed citalopran! I'm scared to take these and so scared o have a brain tumour it's ruining my life.

If you have had a full medical and everything is ok then this is most likely anxiety and therapy will help you learn to cope with it.

The medication is a personal choose you have to decide if you want to try and control the anxiety/panic or you want to tackle it alone

The actual health worries are not important in a way, health anxiety generally will make us think we have anything and everything,if you stop thinking you have one thing, another will appear. Therapy tends to work better for health anxiety rather than meds, so if your not comfortable taking meds, ask your dr for a referral to Psychotherapy and take it from there

I am taking Citalopram and am doing much better than I was 2 weeks ago. The mind us powerful and can really mess with you. I also take a small amount of Ativan a day and that is a help getting used to the Citalopram.

Thanks guys 😊I just feel fed up feeling like this. Dizzy constant and head feels so much pressure! I don't think this can all be from anxiety! I feel like I'm ruining time with my daughter and instead always worry I'm leaving her and going to die! I feel all the symptoms of a brain tumour and Google always says that what it is so don't know why doctor was so easy to brush that off 😒😒

I would stay away from Google as much as possible. It will increase your anxiety in most cases.

I'm a girl. And i googled my symptoms one time and it said testicular cancer, which shows how unreliable Google is. Don't even bother going on there, look on here first. You'll find tons of people with the same issues. I get dizzy from my anxiety all of the time. Its your nerves messing with you. Just relax. I have health anxiety related to my heart and two little ones at home. I'm also on citalopram.

How well is Citalopram working for you? I have only been on it 2 weeks.

I'm getting off of it. I feel better than I did as far as the major panic attacks. But not a big difference. Whenever I up it to 20, I get sick. Gonna be weaned off of them and then try natural remedies

Ye I just always feel the urge to google everything! I've not started to feel the smallest muscle spasms and I feel so much worse again 😞
