heart flutter - freaks me out

Posted , 3 users are following.

i was just sitting here trying to relax. felt ok. then out of nowhere a heart flutter. very brief, but enough to send a cold shower of anxiety theough me. stomach now jittery - like an internal shakiness. i have had ecg's, a stress test, and a cardiogram ultrasound. nobody has identified any heart disorder. but the flutter is real. leads me to ask myself does my anxiety cause the flutter, or the flutter make me (health) anxious? drives me crazy! especially as i feel like i have had things under control for the last 2 months or so. but then this happens and i wonder if there is something wrong and just not identified... has anyone had a similar experience with the flutter sensation?

fluttering can be may be triggered by a surge of adrenaline or anxiety when i had depression i had palpations and my heart raced i think it might be anxiety and the more you focus on it the worse it will get but my advice is to get it checked at your doctors to be on safe side

I had the same, heart fluttering and numb hands feet. Went mad for weeks in and out the doctors and eventually had an ECG. All fine. Found that CBT helped me especially the breathing excersises may be worth a try. Hope you get it sorted mate im sure everything will be fine. Ben

thank you. breathing does help ne calm down. doing toga and meditation as well. am on waiting list for cbt. i believe that with the right strategies, like cbt and an ocassional pill to calm me down, i do have the power to get over the symptoms, but always wonder what's there first: the flutter or anxiety. i have had the requiset tests fir the heart, including aterial blood drawn, but this flutter won't be caught that way. it is the uncertainty that makes me nervous. thanks for the encouragement.
