Heart palpitations

Posted , 4 users are following.

hi me again,  ok so only just over 2 weeks now until my TAH. Last night I could not sleep and my heartbeat was going really fast.  I have had this before but just fleetingly but last night it went on for over 4 hours. Has anyone else had symptoms like this?  I am sure I am just stressed due to upcoming op but I was really tired today after having little sleep last night. Thanks xx

    Hi Poppy

Yes I get very bad palpitations sometimes, usually if I have inadvertently eaten something that upsets my bladder.  Also sometimes the stress of waiting for the op does not help.  Then there is the bad circle of no sleep because of palpitations causing no sleep the next night because you are stressed with no sleep and back come the palpitations!  I have started doing meditation twice a week (mainly for my husband's benefit, and to encourage him to do Meditation, he has bad heart problems) but I find this is having a fantastic effect on me, I sleep much better and the palpitations are quite rare now, so give it a go and see if it helps.

Hi Jacqui. Thanks for your reply. I never thought about meditation. I am quite interested in that. I think I will look into that. I am up for trying anything. I didn't link my palpitations to my diet but I will keep a close eye on that. I will let you know how I get on x

      Hi Poppy

There are some great meditation videos on YouTube.  I have recorded quite a few on my flash drive and then plug it into the TV, lights out and Hubby and I have our own little haven, even Rosie our Shih Tzu cuddles down on my yoga mat, it is so funny.razz  Good luck with it.

I didn't think of you tube.  Thanks for that. I have 2 Lhasa apsos who are a great comfort to me, especially just now. I wouldn't be without them. Thank you for your advice x

You are nervous, I was and palpitations are often a symtom of menopause so as I am 54, not sleeping cause of hot flushes etc it explains why I get them!  Deep breaths, think of something you can look forward to after the op.

    Good luck
