Heart Palpitations Do They Ever End??

Posted , 9 users are following.

Hi Ladies,

Do these crazy heart palpitations ever end? Do they go away after perimenopause is over? I have had numerous EKG's and all looks fine but I don't feel fine. The last couple of days my heart palpatations have been bugging me. When I get anxious and panicked ( which is most of the time 😜) it triggers them. They come and go quickly but they set off my anxiety and panic so much. Some months I have none but this month is different. I'm dealing with an ovarian cyst on my left ovary, I wonder if that's contributing to it. Indigestion and stomach upset triggers them too. I see my GP on Friday I'm going to probably beg for another EKG in her office. I'm so pathetic 😢Anyway Ladies hope you are all fairing better today.

❤️Debbie

I also got them pretty bad when I went in for a check up a few months back. The doctor wanted me to take beta blockers right away until I went to a heart specialist. Now, I have never had issues..some palpitations right before my cycle, but she was freaking me out and they got worse. I went that day to a heart specialist and they ran all these tests and everything you can imagine. All day I spent there, I even had to wear a monitor for 2 days. He was really passive about it, said just do this, but I feel it's fine. I even told the doctor..which by the way was a women about 55-60 ..that it was hormones! Needless to say..Everything was good..Thank God. But, still...I read over and over ..from countless women..this happens. It did scare me also. I started taking maca. One pill a day. It helped me Greatly. I feel we need to be gentle on our bodies when we are having more extreme symptoms. Try our best to know it will pass. My anxiety comes and goes. Your not alone. I try to eat the best I can and exercise. It helps alot!

      Hi Marisa,

Glad you are okay. Sorry you had to go through all that. Some doctors scare you to death and some are completely nonchalant. I need to just try to calm down. Just do hard when your afraid of these symptoms. Thanks for the wonderful words of encouragement. I greatly appreciate it

I've had them occasionally, especially when I'm laying down (do NOT Google this if you ever want to sleep again).

I had to stop googling. It scares the daylights out of me. I dont even look up anything anymore. I just wait to see what the doc says and ask if anyone has expierenced it.

    Aww Debbie,

I understand. I go through the same exact thing. Some days I don't have any. Then other days l, here they come. I get them when my stomach is upset and when I have indegestion. They do subside but they are scary. I have had numerous EKG's as I'm the ER queen and they all come back fine. I can actually feel mines coming on. And then I panic. I call the paramedics and once they get to me it has subsided. You are far from pathetic and not suffering alone.

I am crying as I am reading the posts from all you wonderful ladies. Crying because I'm not alone, crying because I know I'm okay and crying because I'm so terribly tired of feeling this way and being so fearful of it all. Today is just one of those days. Thanks for the words of encouragement ❤️

If you can get pass the first or 2nd year which are the worse, you'll be fine. They do go away rather gradually, but then expect other new symptoms to take over. Sorry I don't mean to discourage you but part of the process.

My doctor had told me to take St. Johns wort becauase it helps, I got them after the worse of my heart palpitations had passed but it also took away the anxiety which was a great help. You can find them at your health food store. Hope you feel better soon.

I haven't tried St Johns Wart yet. Will have to go to my local health food store and try it. Thank You. I seriously can't wait to get through this. I will be 49 in April and I have been going through this since I believe I was 43. I really don't have much of a cycle anymore. I have it for about 3 days but it's not very much at all. I am hoping and praying by the time I am 50 or 51 I will be done.

Everyone's different,Debbie,  I had it a little bit of it when I was 42, but it all went away when I cut out chili out of my diet. Then about 6 years ago I got it and was just a basket case. I couldn't stop crying so I went on a low dose birth control pill.  After I got off of it I got every imaginable symptom, with what seemed to be like all at once.  Ears, heart, uti's, crying, fuzzy brain, fuzzy head, you name it I had it, except for one symptom which I can't remember at the moment. Oh teeth, I think, but maybe I had it, I just can't remember because I have teeth sensitivity anyway. My memoy was by far the worse affected by this pause.  I couldn't remember didley squat, lol. I felt like an airhead, for which all my life, I have detested airheads! I had to take life one day at a time.I''m better now because I write everything down. I notice that when I read a book it makes me feel better. Maybe read a novel. I read one last month and had a good laugh. Try St. Johns wort, you will notice the difference.

Thank you so much for the support 😊. Will try reading a good book. I have always enjoyed reading before all this perimenopause set in. Now I just seem to worry and panic all day. Will go to the health food store too for St. John's wort 😊 Hopefully something will eventually work

What helped me Greatly....was one maca root pill a day. My thyroid levels were at a 12..then 3 months later a 8..then a 5 now normal 1.27. My doctor was more on the natural side although she could not techinally tell me that..She said I could go on meds..but told me the maca and essential oils were good. It takes time...but I have not had any palpitaions..small hot flashes right before my period. I started out with 4 maca pills...then would ask my body thru kinesiology. I know it may sound odd..but it works and your body tells you. Chiropractors use it..and its super easy to do!!! Just my thoughts. Maca balances your hormones naturally. Hope this helps!!!

I am going to health food store today so will look at the Maca root. I completely believe in talking to you body and listening to it. I do essential oils and acupuncture as well. I just can't shake these dreadful debilitating panic attacks and anxiety. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. Everyone on this forum is so supportive. It is nice because I this time it is easy to feel all alone

      Hi debbie.

Take the xanax when you need them.  they help a lot.  I was like you 7 months ago and took a xanax now and then to help with the anxiety attacks.  (I used to take half a tablet, never took a full tablet, and it helped a lot).  This passes, as 7 months on, I don't get anxiety, which leads to panic attack the more it builds up.  Only take the half xanax when you really need them (after you've tried deep breathing and talking yourself down etc., first).  THIS WILL PASS, this is the worst part of this whole mess we're in.  But I was so relieved when I felt like myself again. Took a while, but it did go. eek

Your post was so encouraging. Too know that your anxiety has gotten better is a hope we all need to get through this. I'm not a pill person but will need to break down and take the 1/2 of Xanax before the dentist. If I don't I will end up canceling again and I need to get these fillings fixed before they get worse. Thanks for the response and encouragement 😊

debbie, I just read some medical articles on Maca, had I known about this, I would have taken it. Sounds like something you need to take also. St. John's wort worked on me because I wasn't severe, the worse had passed like 4 years ago. Thing is even if I would have read about it back then, when I got to the store with all the stress, anxiety, and unsettling head issues, I would have forgot what I was going there for, and even if I remembered at the time, I couldn't buy it because I had to just leave. Especially, a few times, my sweetie had to help out of the store because I was stuck in place unable to move. It was as if someone had shut down my body to not move forward, I think that was one of the worse times in my life.

That is funny you say you feel alone. I remember one day crying, my sweetie was sitting in the same room with me, he asked me why are you crying, I said, because I feel all alone. He said, Hello, I'm here!! then said, what am I chicken liver? I said, I'm story it's just a feeling, I could have a 100 family members here, and I would still feel alone. That would make you all chicken livers. Poor guy, he really is sweet and patient.
