Hi All,

Just been to the doctors and had lost 7 lbs in two weeks using Reductil but had my blood pressure taken 3 times and now have to come off it. Feel totally gutted and tearful as I really felt it was working with my whole noncontrol over food. Now I am on Orlistat and am concerned about the side affects, I do plan to eat healthily but am worried as to how bad the whole symptons can get!

Can I have some feedback from people on this medication - good or bad!

Thanks!

Me x :D

The biggest thing is to cut right back on the fat. That's the best advice I can give you. You'll regret not doing so as it's yucky, but when I've made the mistake I've had no-one but myself to blame

I've been on them for 2 months, lost 10lb in my first month and am going back any day for my second weigh in, so they really do work. I really enjoy what I'm eating and even go to the pub and have a steak, veg and mash (but cut off the fat!) So it's very possible - you'll find lots of support here for the hard times too!

    Good luck with it, Ali

    Hi Scalster,

    welcome to our happy bunch.

Regarding orlistat, I have been on them for 3 weeks now and they do work.

As far as the side effects go, if you stick to a low fat diet you will be fine. You generally only get the bad reaction when you intake too much fat.

OK, my hubby is getting a bit sick of the wind I get but I tell him it is worth it to have a happier, healtheir me!

Other than that I haven't really noticed anything apart from going to the loo a bit more than usual. I have a hectic job with loads of overseas travelling and it hasn't made any difference to that.

So embrace the blueys. Having high BP is a lot worse - trust me.

    Hi Ladies,

Thank you so so much for your inspiration and kind words and importantly guidance - so basically cut out the fat and don't cheat otherwise I will live to regret it. Well that will force me to be good and crack on with this once and for all.

good luck girls - keep us posted on your weigh ins.... it's so inspiring to hear how you are getting on.

    Hi Scalster

Welcome to the group. Everything written so far seems to sum it up, i personally havent had any of the major side effects apart from as has been written, wind! but its a small price to pay.

i have had only one terrible episode when i came off the tablets on bank holiday friday, and ate sensible apart from a chinese takeaway, i think i was lucky because i hadnt continued on my tablets but i had chronicle stomach ache and the runs for 2 days, i never want to feel that bad again so it was back on the tablets tuesday and eating sensibly once more.

i have been on the tablets for 6 weeks now and have lost 1st 3lbs so yes they do work.

    Good luck,

    Carley

    Hi Carly,

Thanks so much for your message. Well done on your weight loss! awesome news!

Well, the wind thing i can cope with - being married 10 years you kinda get used to body functions without any embarrasment! Well, blokes can talk hey anyway!!........

So, that's quite motivating then - just gotta stay on track and be good - it'll all be worth it in the end.

Good luck Carly - keep in touch
