Hello there
Posted , 29 users are following.
Been following this group for a few weeks now and decided to jump in. I had bunion surgery, hammertoe, plantar fasciitis and tarsal tunnel release, all on the right foot on Feb 26. Have done really well except for falling twice and putting a lot of pressure on my foot trying to keep from falling. I am approaching week three and actually have more pain now than I did at first. Sutures are out, thank goodness and I am still no-weight bearing. I see the surgeon Friday and will probably go into a post surgical boot. I keep thinking I should be further along but I have to consider I had four procedures on one little foot! I am 63 years old and it is not easy getting around. Hubby rented me a knee walker and that really has been a big help. Happy healing to all!

My question is - my foot is extremely purple/bruised looking. Has anyone taken Arnica tablets for bruising? Is there any other suggestions for helping the bruising go away? Maybe it is too late for Arnica to work?
Is anyone else experiencing the major discoloration to the foot? The bruising doesn't hurt - I understand it is from blood vessels breaking, blood pooling, etc.
I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on how I may work on this discoloration going away. Thanks!

I see you changed your user name...it makes it so much easier to remember who had what done when. So important to understand where they are at now. Do I recall correctly that you had both feet done? I put in mine LF for left foot.

Didn't want to go and went anyway only because I committed a month ago. Best resturant in town. After 15 minutes I had to get up and leave. Felt bad for my girlfriend Annette. She stayed. The walls were closing in and There wasn't enough room to put my foot up. Drove home in shear frustration and pain. Once elevated I was fine.
Good news I can shower and get my foot wet.
The other issue I have is hopping around on my good foot. I had my hip replaced 5 years ago and it's starting to bother me.
Need to attack this day in a different mindset.
More or less venting!!!! Feeling worn out. Hope everyone has a safe blessed day.

I wrote a post this morning and it is lost in space, oh well.
I had a great night sleeping all night through. Foot needs to get up and ice now. Had a SHOWER woo hoo. Hubby helped me last night and wow that is an ordeal but sure feels good. Took a long time too but so worth it. Foot like to drain the blood to the toes when I get up too quick which is very painful and then it takes longer to go the bathroom. Anyone else have the blood rush effect and how long does this last for.
Bob, glad you could get out but too bad about the birthday dinner. Its so hard to not do like we used to. At least you can drive, so thats a good thing. Sorry to hear about your hip, are we getting old or what, lol. Rest, elevate and ice today you over did it yesterday. Baby steps, and I know its hard when we are so used to rushing around. Makes me grateful for all I can do.
Have a great Saturday everyone.

Anita great you getting a good sleep, I've not had such a good sleep the last few nights, trying not to take any painkillers but foot been burning and nipping and can't get comfy and find myself still awake at 3am. Got a mobility scooter in the supermarket and had a great time today actually seeing what I was buying, definately do that again, I would recommend you check it out if you have large supermarkets near you.

Hope you have a better day today Bob....and a more restful one ! You mention hopping around on your good foot. Are you not using your knee walker?
Welcome to the world of shower seat assisted showers Anita! That first shower after surgery is for sure an "ahhhhh" experience. So glad you are sleeping well now.
All's good at my end. I vacuumed the condo yesterday on my knee scooter using a cordless vacuum. It worked out so well I was thrilled. A friend was bringing dinner over so how could I not vacuum before guests arrived right? LOL
Have a great Saturday....
