David prostatitis can be controled. They just have to fine the right meds. I have a friend that has had batiral prostatitis from the time he was 17 he is 32 and he has problems sometime but takes his pills. I have it sometime. I get pain in my groin and my penis goes numb. Do let it take over your life and don't let any doctor tell you that we have to cut out some of the prostate to get you better It will not help. Go to another doctor until you find one that will care enough to work with you Ken

Prostatitis can be intractible. It can last for many months at a time. Personally speaking, I don't know if urologists, or anyone else for that matter, have a grasp on what's going on with this disease.

Prostatitis is, to quote someone, a "psychoneuromuscular condition". Google it

Most prostatitis is nonbacterial. Google "prostatitis CPPS and bacteria" for some definitive answers.

Please be aware that many urine infections are not found on solely the dipstick test and as the NHS are trying to save money they try to reduce samples going for culture therefore your infection may be missed, so ask your Dr for culture results. The other thing I have found out is that Dr prescription A/B's are not strong enough to get to the infection if in your prostate. It took 28 days of going to hospital for intravenous A/B's to rid me of my urine infections.
