Hi Emma, when were you in hospital? Just recently? Don't suffer, go and see your Gp as soon as you can and seek further advice and stronger painkillers. Being in pain is awful and it took about 10 days for mine to settle down, when I was first in pain in August it was across the whole abdomen and then settled on hrs and they thought maybe I had appendicitis, took a week to get referred to hospital and two days of tests to find out I had two cysts and told to go home and take paracetamol and have another ultrasound in 6 weeks. Then a sympathetic Dr Prescribed codeine and then co-codamol. You can get cocodamol over the counter at pharmacy and not expensive. These helped greatly and for me lying down eased the pain, although I know this is not practical! Or indeed a long term solution.  I also went off my food and lost 7lb.

After a second ultrasound had a referral to gynae consultant who decided on surgery to remove cysts. This was finally done in December and this week I feel better than I have done in months!

some cysts do resolve by themselves, but not all, so do go back fo those tests, perhaps phone up and see if you can get an earlier appointment, let us know how you are getting on.

Go back hun. I was in awful pain the wort pain I have ever experienced. Even having open surgery to remove the cyst I had wasn't as painful as that first pain!!

Hospital mistook mine for firstly a urine infection, then when they finally admitted me to hospital appendicitis then pelvic inflammatory disease then when they finally did the ultrasound saw fluid and said ovarian cyst and a transvaginal scan finally confirmed it in June. And that pain started April. I then finally had it removed October last year. Mine grew to 14cms it measured 8.9cm in April. It normally causes pain and makes you feel ill when something is wrong like it twisting or torsion or inflamed / infected. So if you really feel ill please seek further advice hun.

You can get stronger cocodamol 30/500 from Dr. Only draw back is they can make you constipated. And they made me drowsy, so found it hard to function properly.  I was told that the pain can be caused by the cyst twisting the ovary/ Fallopian tube because of its size / weight.

Go back to Dr again. Think I was seen 3 times at Gp within a week initially, then referred to hospital, then back to Gp at least twice.  When you can get pain under control it is easier to deal with rest.
