so i had unprotected sex with a guy about a week and a half ago. he texted me that he had tested positive for chlamydia two days afterwards. all my tests came back negative (the clinic did NOT offer bv or hsv testing). however i was started on the antibiotics for preventative measures due to my exposure. a little over a week after the unprotected sex, i noticed some discomfort and when i looked, this is what i saw is it possible this is anything other than herpes?

so the discomfort started like the day after i got tested. i wouldnt say it has ever caused pain tho, just discomfort.

hmm well i read that test can pick up std such as chlam and gon 1-2 weeks after unprotected sex maybe you tested too early but your already getting treatment anyway. In the meantime id still go back and have the dr take a look and swab it just incase and maybe go back in a few months for the blood test

Hey also when you got tested was it urine culture where you pee in a cup or was it a cervical swab ? im trying to see if my results are accurate with the amount of days that passed after unprotected sex for me

the clinic i went to didnt do any tests requiring cervical swabs, only urine. what did you get tested for?

so when i visited my gyn 11 days after unprotected sex they did a cervical swab and tested for chlam, gonn, vaginal infects such as yeast and so on. My test came back negative for those std but im lowkey worried i might have tested too early although test can pick up those type of std within 1-2 weeks and i was told the swabs are more accurate than urine. Ive been paranoid about everything. I went to get retested this morning so ik my results were 100% correct since its been over a month since the unprotected sex encounter

and do to the ulcer/open sores it does look like it could be herpes. Id go somehwere that offers testing for that asap while you still have those sores. I know syphilis symptoms ppl get painless sores

im worried that by the time i get an appt, they will be gone. there are healing in my anus and the one near my vaginal canal is barely even visible anymore. they havent really scabbed over like i would expect herpes to but i know it's still a possibility. if they have healed, would it be better to wait to get a blood test in 3 months? i dont have insurance so the appointments alone are very expensive, plus the testing (i know its important tho, so just wondering the best course of action assuming they heal before i get an appointment)

Hello, this definitely looks like Herpes especially with the timeline. He could have been a silent carrier because Herpes testing is usually excluded from standard STD tests.

Woman to woman, I highly recommend getting tested for EVERYTHING including HIV and Hepatitis in about a month. Since he's possibly a carrier of 2 sexual diseases it's best to be sure because like you mentioned, testing too early can cause false negatives.

Luckily, all STDS are treatable or curable. Please try to practice safe sex in the future and best of luck to you.

yeah, the clinic j went to this time didn't offer HSV or hep testing, i did get tested for HIV with the other tests 6 days after intercourse. the doctor did say it's possible it was a false negative for chlamydia but that the antibiotics would be working preventatively in that case.

i have a feeling it's a yeast infection because of the antibiotics, i am developing VP and my discharge is getting thick and white like yeast. i know it is possible i have HSV as well, but i am going to keep my hopes high. next course of action is clearing up the yeast and then i will get a blood test in a couple months for HSV
