That looks like herpes. Couple people on this site had similar bumps on their area and got tested confirming herpes

Typically between 24 hours to 21 days after exposure. Though for some it can lay dormant for months or years before the first outbreak. It's a logical certainty that many die without ever having outbreaks at all or knowing they carried the virus, so it can be tricky sometimes to get the full picture.

But I would say the majority of the time, if you're just one of the unlucky ones to get outbreaks (for factors not yet understood, though there are some theories), I'd say about 70% of the time the first outbreak will happen between 1 to 14 days after exposure.

has anyone had a negative blood test and positive swab test?

blood test are fairly inaccurate especially early in the diagnosis. swabs of a lesion are more accurate.

blood tests come out negative during the first 3 or so months because your body has not built up enough antibodies. thats why its so important to get the sore swabbed when you notice it

thanks for the replies, the timeline would be closer to 8-9 months so i asked my doctor her thoughts. she seems to think folliculitis, since it was only one bump, and the blood test was negative, she said she doesnt expect the swab to show up anything. just as a precautionary since i was so freaked out!

UPDATE: got swab done and full std panel... everything came back negative. i no longer have symptoms of this it just cleared up. So please tell me what was this???

how soon did u test after exposure it can take 16 weeks for antibodies to build up if u tested before that it could be unreliable

i tested a month and a half after exposure they took a blood test and my doctor took a swab with fluid from that area.

HSV takes 6 weeks max, a test would be able to detect for sure at 6 weeks. Either way getting tested again this week because it would be two months already

12 to 16 weeks for herpes imagebecause it takes a while for antibodies to build up

i dont know were you got your information from but its wrong for a blood test most people end up going to early then having to have one redone at 16 weeks ...

For them to say 16 weeks I'm sure they've ran tests to come up with this number. me personally I've tested 9 months after exposure and a negative western blot at 34 weeks. I strongly suggest you don't read up on this too much because I've read and now I'm not sure of my results. I've read people taking longer and even up to a year to show positive. because of that I question the 34 week western blot and I guess that's the best testing they have for this. other than a swab

If it is herpes ill have multiple outbreaks throughout the year. People with herpes also get headaches, fever and fatigue.

u might only ever have one outbreak im not sure u understand how herpes works it can lay dormant u could have one outbreak then it could be years before u have another i work in sexual health

iv got herpes and i dont have any other symptoms but sores

Theres people that get like 12 outbreaks a year and a fever im pretty sure i know my body. i would be one of those people for sure to at least get 5 outbreaks

also just read online that no test is accurate for HSV. A lot if people get false positives and negatives. So i'll for sure know if i get another outbreak.

usually get false negatives if u test to early ...and ye u could just take the watch and wait approach theres not alot u can do other than take antiviral medication anyway
