I was diagnosed with functional IBS three years ago now but...

I am at the end of my rope.

I'm going through something right now which no one seems to have any idea what it is...

It's been the third week now of an upset stomach.

I got  Diarreah frequently in the beginning, this past week it's only been slushy and runny when I go to the toilet which is usually when I get up in the morning.

I feel nauseous all the time. My poo is a yellowish colour, not pale but like bright yellow mostly.

I have lost weight because I've literally been eating clear soups and toast for three weeks, and drinking water, that's it.

My stomach just feels sore and raw from my neck to my anus.

I've had colonoscopies and an endoscopy about two years ago. they came back negative apart from I have a small hiatus hernia.

They came to the conclusion it was IBS, but I am doubting this.

I cannot believe a flare could go on constantly for three weeks and make me feel so ill like this.

I'm weak because I haven't eaten anything of any substance, and when I have tried it's given me worse Diarreah. I'm scared to eat anything at the moment.

I have been off of work for three weeks now and do not know when I am going back as I am unable to work in my job with diarreah.

I honestly feel so depressed with this, I cannot make any plans for the future whilst everyone else is just going on with their life. I'm so sad. I feel so ill. I don't know what to do anymore.

Have you had flares like this before?

Have you seen a doctor in the past fe weeks? If so what tests did they do and what were the results?

    Do you have badominal cramps?

I’ve had one flare like this three years ago. I had campylobacter. But this time nothing has shown on bloods or poo. I’ve had all the necessary poo and bloods done. All clear. No blood in poo either. Just this diarreah or mushy poo. Cramps, gas pains and scared to eat

Shaun do you wake up with pain and gas? And do you get D in the morning which tails off when you’ve emptied your bowel completely. ? I’m ok ish after that for rest of the day. Until the next morning. Then it back again. Relentless this time. Going into third week. Very depressing.

Hi have you had tests for H-pylori or coeliac disease ?, this might sound simplistic but you could try Chia seeds soak them in some water for at least 2 hours and drink them down, they're full of fibre and many nutrients and minerals etc very easy to digest, when you soak them it gets rid of the enzyme inhibitors what protect the seed, you can soak any nuts and seeds this way makes them very easy to digest, seeds and nut are full of vitamins and minerals, lots of info online, you don't want to get deficient in these things like iron etc.

It just will not go away.

Every morning I wake up with wind cramps. It’s painful. Then the pattern is I go to toilet about three times. Then it eases a bit. It’s like my bowel cannot tolerate anything in it right now. But it’s also the mental impact it has on you. I’m tearful, depressed and have no energy or inclination to do anything. All I do is sit on my sofa and watch tv worrying about what it really could be. I’m waiting on scopes maybe that will give me answers.

IBS flare ups can last for months; my first flare up lasted three and a half months. Scopes will reveal nothing if you have IBS. Ask for a different antispasmodic and try distraction techniques like a hobby or light exercise.  Try Imodium for diarrhoea; it works for me. Constant worry about whether you have something else, will cause your flare up to last much longer.  Anxiety fuels IBS.
