Help!! - sleep problems

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi everyone

My good mood has well and truly gone now. On flu dosage 40mgs, it does not allow me to have highs and lows anymore.

However, i've had a couple of nights with virtually no sleep. I should have passed this stage - i'm in my 15th week for pete's sake.

All herbal remedies are now failing as is diazepam.

I'm an awkward case as i cannot swallow tablets or capsules so that's Zopiclone out the window.

I've spent 2 hours looking on the net for alternatives and there's not much out there if one is also taking prozac or AD's in general.

Does anyone have any ideas?

It's starting to drag me down (as much as flu will let me!!) and i cannot function on 3 hours disturbed sleep.

Hellllllpppppp sad :?

Lack of sleep is horrible isn't it? I think it's probably something you need to talk to your doctor about. I guess you have tried all the warm baths / lavender / having a good sleep routine? Not that any of that helped me! Depending on how bad it's affecting you, it might mean changing ADs to something more sedative? Take care.

Hi All.I sometimes plug my ear phones in and listen to calming music.I drift right off.I often wake up in the same position...flat on my back with my ear phones still in some hours later. What I do think about this is,that because the music is so calming it stops you thinking too much whilst drifting off which I believe interupts a nice sleep. It may be worth a try.Hope it works. :sleepy: :sheep:  Good luck and let me know how you get on.P.xxx

    Hi

Sorry to hear those sleepless nights are back.

Has something happend to cause it? I think you need to get to your GP and nip it in the bud. Maybe there is a liqiud remedy?

Shame you cant take the zops, I am settling into a routine although only once have I been able to sleep on 7.5mg. I tend to wake after 3 hours then take another for 3 more hours, seems to work. My only cup of coffee of the day seems to get rid of the drowsiness. I was actually told this was the best way to take them by a GP many years ago, taking 2 at a time is not the answer. Its a shame they arent soluble!

I too have searched for alternatives, but only tablets & capsules seem to be available from GP, not that I have asked mine.

Maybe you could just pop the pill, then pour a pint of water down. Zops are much smaller than flu.

I saw my counsellor last night who suggested long walks and swimming to help sleep, something I will try once I get the energy from a few more nights sleep.

I hope you find the answer soon, i doubt if i have been much help but let us know how you get on.

    Hi Meganpooch

Sometimes I cant sleep either and this helps me.

Watch tv (something boring), smoke a fag, eat something...1 thing that really helps me is when I just stay awake all night and next day. I sleep like a baby then. My concentration is almost non existence so its not a good idia if u have to work the next day.

Maybe if u do some exercise in the evening like jogging will do the trick for u.

    Hope that helps.

    Have a nice day

    Hi everyone

Thanks to all who replied. Not much improvement today. Hit a whacked out wall at 3pm and struggled on to 5pm. Will go back to docs next week.

Have to ring at 8am for an appt and the chances of that at the moment are remote.

I've tried everything herbal wise and seem to be immune to everything now. Don't want to change my meds yet. Don't want to take something every day that will more of a sedative. Have to drive 17 miles to work.

Hoping this is a temporary phase like it has been in the past.

    Thanks for your advice though.

I will be sending you a PM.

All input is valuable input. You took the time to reply and i'm very grateful for that. My flu is liquid so i don't know how big the tabs are. Think i may be able to get Temazepam as a liquid or more Diazepam for a larger dose. I've started dragging myself round the park near to where i work, after work. It's about a mile round trip. Tricky with no energy but i must force myself. Thanks again for replying.

Don't think your site name can get any shorter than this.

Thanks for your suggestions. I usually get up, have a fag, write expletives in my diary etc and go back to bed again. Trip to the docs methinks for something stronger.

Hi - I have been on fluoxetine now for over a year and I can honestly say I feel no real difference. I never gave drinking a thought and I do so as and when. I have noted through reading peoples posted comments that there might be a placebo ie change of manufacurer which I have also experienced and when I asked the pharmacist they looked pretty blank and unconvincing, when I challenged them about the colour of the tablets, it was as if I were mad! How ironic is that!!!!

Perhaps there is something in this - I will certainly take a keen interest in the makes from now on.

I am finding it hard to sleep just now but perhaps this is due to the change into summer time? I guess this medication like all medication affects us all differently - from mild to severe, so it may be working for me!

Hope this helps as reading the comments has certainly made me think!

    Hi Pauline

Alcohol is a no no for me and so is normal tea. I have tried a pint occasionally but i'm not ready yet. No point making myself feel worse.

Have been posting for a while now and there are certainly some wise fellow sufferers out there.

Any information is valuable information. I know everyone will react differently to the meds and everyone's circumstances that got them into this mess in the first place will be different too.

40mg's has lifted me higher than where i was in December before i took them. Don't think i'd be around now if i hadn't taken them at all.

    20mgs hardly changed things.

    What dosage are you on?

Placebo is a non starter. This can only happen in lab conditions. Different manufacturing processes produce different results. I've found this before with other meds, antibiotics for example, different taste and reaction etc.

Take care and best wishes. x
