To give you some background info IM 38 year old man and became Hiv postive January 2015, becuase of the shocking news and to go the other extreme of it i started becoming really fit, power walking and Aerobics lief was becoming good
In January this year I lost my balance doing Extreme power walking, and life hs been HELL ever since, i lost my balance my right knee jerked and suddenly it felt like my leg had became as heavy in weight as an elephants leg, i could hardly drag my right leg
Its 7 months on and have seen 6 different Pysiothreapists and no one seems to know what it really is, and have started to see this pysio and doing all the warm ups he has given me and sometimes i just feel im getting worse and worse
The legs are so stiff i cant tell you, its an effort to walk from the sofa to make a cuppa.
Every step is an effort, their solid stiff, i get massive intense burning all over from legs at times, i get popping going on from the legs, and under the skin feels like a electric current activity with lots going on
its become so bad that at watching TV its just constanstly in pain, went to bed early last night as pain had made me feel drowsey
If i walk more than 500 feet these legs tell me they are not happy, they get stiffer and heavier and heavier even at a real slow pace, i just want to walk normally again pain free let alone doing Aerobics again is only a dream
I wander if i need crutches, please guys and gals if anyone knows anything please please help i cant do much with my life with not much use of my legs

Hi music man,
Sorry to hear about ur health woes and to have trouble with ur knee on top of it all. Anyway, I had something similar happen to me when I twisted my knee pushing a patient on a bed around the hospital I was working at. The pain was awful. I could hardly move and when I was able to, the knee kept locking and I'd have to stand there, in pain, till it passed. I went to the emergency department and they did a scan and found I'd torn my meniscus. Eventually, had an arthroscopy and got it fixed. Felt better after the recovery period but unfortunately, went back to work and retore it. Since had bilateral tkr's. Pales in comparison lol. Go see ur doctor for a referral. Hope this helps but I'm no professional.
good luck with everything

Hi, sounds like you've gone from one extreme to the other!!! I would ask your gp to refer you for a scan as it sounds like you've torn something, doesn't sound like it's HIV related, hope you get help with it soon

Wow, what a blow you've had. I saw that you went to a lot of different physiotherapists, but maybe you need to see a doctor and have some tests done. I don't know if ice or heat would be better but I'm sure a doctor could advise you. In the meantime, I will try to remember you in prayer. Being in that much pain can really knock the life out of you.

Poor you - I fell over a treadmill (!) not even off it - and twisted my knee I was in pain for ever - but my broken arm took priority. I had an arthoscopy and later a TKR but obviously you need a scan and to see a consultant - living with 'no' legs is really tough so dont delay any more - go and get referred and if you are in a position you could even have a private MR1/XRays to at least know the causes
and see a consultant - if there are long waiting times. I thought swimming and being fit was a dream but am back on track and have adjusted things - cant run but can cycle etc..but am sure you will get back to non-weight bearing stuff and light aerobics one day - it may be an uphill and painful battle but necessary and thats why the forum is here. let us know how it goes.

Hi, sorry to hear about your health problems .. one good thing is they now have some really great drugs out for HIV which can nearly stop it in it's tracks so I heard on the news.
But getting onto your knee I would be seeing my dr and telling him and requesting xrays and also a referral to an orthopedic surgeon who will probably arrange for an MRI to see what damage you may have and the options for it.
Take care and let us know how you go... Tracey
