I have been on 10mg of Citalopram for a little over 4 weeks. I am getting warm to hot rushes through my body. I went to er and had blood work and ekgs. Everything is checking ok, although my bp went very high, 171/108 it took a long time to drop. Since then I am still getting warm rushes and chest tightening as well as feeling like I have a belt that tightens around my ribs directly under my breasts.
I am using all the brain tricks I know to fight from going into a full anxiety attack. Just need to know if these are things that are the storm before the calm that should come with Citalopram.
I had already started feeling a bit better before this started.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My uncle has taken Citalopram for many years and done well with them. My dr recommended I start with CTLP after amny years of on off anxiety Like you I started off OK and then would get the same hot rushes through chest ,I just could,nt handle it , I stopped. Iguess it depends on the person and their fears, for me the fear of having a heart attack is the cause of most of my anxiety so these hot rushes just made me worse. i take occasional ativan plus Lyrica / tramadol when required for a Neck Hernia I have at C5-6 I feel for you and hope you find what works best for you, am doing Ok with the help of others and community Websites like Patient, it helps a lot to know others are going through the same or similar. Good luck Mark

I recently had a 90% blockage iny heart so when the hot rushes started I thought my heart Stent had failed.
I have never had anxiety attack in my life until last month and now I've had two of them and feel anxious almost all the time and do my best at distracting my mind.
I start seeing a therapist on Monday.
Thanks again and hope things are good for you today.
