Hemorrhoidectomy Recovery

I have had hemorrhoids internal and external for years now. About a year ago i went through a series of 5 bandings (2-3 weeks apart for each one), but around 6 months after the final banding the hemorrhoids were back! These hemorrhoids were debilitating to say the least and I was no longer able to continue my life as normal. My diet was good, plenty of fiber and water, mostly clean eating. I am a 29 y/o male 5'10 165lbs athletic build.

When the hemorrhoids returned or were more active i would always get a popping type feeling/sensation inside my rectal area at the site of a hemorrhoid. Sometimes it would be random sometimes a second or two after I had passed gas. It almost felt like bubbles popping which made me think it could be trapped gas, but the weird thing was that it was always felt at the site of the oncoming hemorrhoid. i searched everywhere on forums and pages about symptoms but I couldnt find anyone with a similar dealing. Also this time around when i got my flare ups (multiple at once) I would have an overly excessive amount of gas. Since the coronavirus had just started and my state of NY had shut down all elective surgeries i was unable to get a colonoscopy and endoscopy to rule out something possibly more sinister. After waiting a month and a half to get these done they came back decent results but with multiple internal and external hemorrhoids.

I now had the surgery 3 weeks ago to the day and had 4 hemorrhoids removed and stitched. 3 large and 1 smaller, at 11 oclock 1 oclock 3 oclock and 7 oclock locations. The recovery process has been brutal. around day 9/10/11 i began feeling pretty good with a string of vastly improved days and I tried sitting down and walking a bit more, but that night the pain felt like the pain from day 2 or 3. Not only that but the bleeding got very bad again and the swelling increased. The pain persosted pretty bad for 5/6 days. To add insult to injury i feel the popping sensation at the 11 and 1 oclock sites again. This has me worried that they have come back. Today the swelling is down from what it was last week, but every now and then i will feel that pop and one of the site locations which makes me very worried. The pain is now an ache but with a feeling of fullness like an internal hemorrhoid is present in the area. I am hesitant to sit and do too much. There is still pain after bowl movements- which i have 3 x's a day all within a 3/4 hr period- so that doesnt help much 😕 but i guess what i really wanna know is if anyone else has dealt with these popping type feelings in the rectum after the surgery!? Or does anyone know what could possibly be going on, Im worried the surgery didnt take at those two locations.

Yes! I have come across that same gassy and popping sensation. I think it has something to do with nerve channels, similar to when your eye twitches etc but I am certainly no Dr. I would continue to monitor it, perhaps even record frequencies and timings but try not to worry.

I am scheduled for the cut and slice job next week. Not looking forward to it at all. My main issue is prolapse of one of the hangers on when walking or basically moving in any way some days. I too am a healthy male, 185cm, 70kg. I am hoping my good health and fitness will set me up for a decent recovery. If it stops the prolapse and constant worrying about it, then it will be worth it. I just want to not have to worry about these damn things!

    Take care.
