Herpes Blood test - Private clinics

Posted , 5 users are following.

I just read the recent post on blood tests, but thought I'd start a new topic

Ok. I need a blood test for herpes. GP's and the GUM's I have tried refuse to do blood tests giving me all the usual blah blah blah blah's you get in todays society. I need a good honest private doctor/clinic where you pay money and all the nonense of the public sector flies away.

So err yes I'm looking for places in the UK, preferably Scotland that will give you a blood test for herpes regardless. For free or for money.

Also . If the test able to determine whether its oral or genital herpes?

Thanks guys

You can go to the Sandyford Clinic. There is one in Glasgow and I'm pretty sure a few surrounding that. The Sandyford Clinic is a Sexual Health Clinic so all nurses see many issues like Herpes every day. I went there to get checked out and they gave me a blood test with no issues at all. I hope this is of some help to you smile

Nope Sandyford is where I got tested and they said they only swab when lesions are showing. They wouldn't do blood tests for me for herpes.

The blood test will determine if it's hsv1 or hsv2. hsv2 is the sexually transmitted one, you can get it orally or genitally and hsv1 is just cold sores.

    Hi,

I obtained a blood test from HVA - Herpes charity, google and you will find them. They posted a test kit out. You have to then visit a GP, Nurse or GUM with kit to get ur blood drawn and then you post it off.. Either HVA will talk you through the results and / or you can revisit clinic / GP.

It costs but not a lot. From memory (few years ago now) it was around 50 quid.
