Herpes blood testing question

okay, so if someone takes a IGG blood test and the results are 0.2 for hsv 1 and 2 .
if a person also takes a Igm but has been with the same person for over three years, and they are loyal to each other. and IF there were chances of hsv wouldn't it show up on Igg? if the Partner has no history of Hvs. then the igm would also come out negative as well right? just how far does igm trace back? like months, year? or just within two to six weeks ?

igm is a useless test. Dont bother with it. CDC doesnt recommend the igm nor herpes expert Terri Warren. If the igg is under .91 its considered negative. if the igg is between 1.1-3.5 its considered a low positive and needs a confirmation test such as the western blot done through the university of washington. sounds like your results were under .91 so that would make you negative and have nothing to worry about. especially if you have no sores.

yes, my results were 0.2 igg
but she also did igm but im thinking well if ive been sexually active with my partner for three years and him vice versa, it would show up on the igg Correct?. meaning there was no point in doing a igm.

yes 3 years is plenty of time to build up antibodies if you were infected. did he get tested? what were his results? again disregard the igm. its useless

he has not been tested.. maybe i should have him tested.. I'm so stuck on me, and didnt even think well, although he has never cheated on me he wasn't a virgin when we got together..we both got std tested before ever being sexual bc i made sure of that, but didnt know they didnt test for hsv at the time, unless you asked for it.. i know hes only been with two women and the first was his high school gf and they were both virgins neither of them having cold sores. the second had a young child, but never showed syn. of hsv he also has had ulcerative colitis and had to have his large intestine removed. so in a way his immune system is compromised.. so im thinking had he been infected, he definitely would have had a break out if he had hsv. he also has never had any signs or syn. either.. but i think its worth it to have him test for it. as well. we haven't had sex in two months due to me having discomfort in my vaginal area, periods etc. and once i masturbated i strted feeling irritated like a week later. there is no way i infected myself considering i dont even have hsv according to my igg. just doesn't make sense to me. is it safe to say im not infected?

nothing indicates hsv infection. but if you are still worried about it have him get tested. many things can cause vaginal discomfort such as stress. i seriously dont think you need to be worrying about herpes
