Herpes in year long relationship

Hi I'm new to this and just looking for some insightsmile So about 8 months ago I started getting cold sores on my lips, I didn't think it was too big of deal. I thought I might have gotten it from sharing drinks or my boyfriend but wasn't sure and never saw an active cold sore on his lips. Sometimes hed get small pimples but I didn't think much of it. Anyways more recently hes been putting off sex due to things like razor burn ingrown hairs and recently a large bump that resembled a cyst on his penis. I was terrified that I had given him genital hsv1 like worried sick about it. More recently I got a couple of bumps down there. I was really scared and went to the doc and got swabbed and it was negative they said it didnt resemble herpes at all and that it was very unlikely. A month later I have a new bump. It hurts and reminds me of a cold sore so I obviously am convinced its herpes but have to wait to get my blood drawn for accurate testing. Any thoughts on most likely cause would be great. Thank you. sorry for the paragraph just confused and worried.

Also just wondering how to approach talking to him about this. I told him I was worried I had it and that I was going to get tested but he was just like you dont have because i dont, but he has never been tested and has symptoms from my perspective. But I dont know how to bring it up again or even if I should until I know for sure.

I'm no expert. But it sounds like you just need to get tested again. Also hsv1 and hav2 doesn't always show positive when taking a test. Just tell your doctor your concerns

So confusing this whole thing, I was swabbed twice then finally after a blood test my results came back positive for hsv2. i mean seriously. Every single persons experience with herpes is different. Usually if a doctor says it doesnt look like herpes youd think theyd be correct so hopefully YOU DONT! When I have an outbreak down there its like four or five very irritated like blisters that turn to lesions.. My mom has hsv1 and her cold sores look nothing like what I get down there. So hopefully you just got some in grown hairs. Best of luck. If it is just in grown hairs try using a homemade sugar scrub after you shave has helped my razor bumps and ingrown hairs like a charm, just equal parts sugar to organic coconut oil bought in stores if you wanna add a little tea tree like a drop that soothes the area also. smile

If you have cold sores, it's unlikely that you have it genitally, though not impossible. Same goes for your bf. In most people, established oral HSV-1 protects against genital HSV-1, but not HSV-2. A DNA/PCR swab is much more accurate than a viral culture if you want to know for sure.

talked to the bf today and he says that nothing that he has had has felt unusual that he would get bumps from shaving before we started dating ect. so I don't think he has a recent hsv1 infection. If anything I'm worried about 2 but I know both are still posible.

It's been my experience because I have genital herpes, that about on my genitals mean that I am starting an outbreak. Immediately I start keeping my area clean cool dry. Then I make sure my life knows that I have to be stress free so I just give it up to God to handle it so I could stay stress free. I also apply neosporin + pain with a q-tip on that bump and sometimes when they real bad after I take a shower cool water is a great help especially if you have one of those ones with the sprayer on the end you could actually spray it down there gently and it will relieve some of the itch and start to break down the fever. Because you need to realize this is a fever. Take fever reducers ok? I took mine 2-3 times a day

yeah one could be the start of the outbreak but I have had this for 5 days without it opening up and turning to a sore and it feels hard almost like a zit. How long before your one sore develops into multiple?

thanks for all the replys. Kayla, I know I need a blood test but need to wait a week or two longer and this sore is barely visible so I do not feel it is worthwhile to swab it for an accurate result.

FelisCatus: Yeah that is what I read online also. I talked to the bf today and he says that nothing that he has had has felt unusual that he would get bumps from shaving before we started dating ect. so I don't think he has a recent hsv1 infection. If anything I'm worried about 2 but I know both are still posible.

It may not ever develop into an open blister its just letting you know that something is wrong down there and if you don't take care of it it will be a blister and might not be the only one I just want to tell any of the ladies out there heaven forbid if it happens while you are pregnant. I was pregnant and almost due when I had an outbreak and they took the baby c-section before he was due but he was 6 pounds somebody ounces so it was alright but he could have been blind or retarded any kind of thing maybe he wouldn't have lived through it you know believe me it's worth a c-section. He is absolutely beautiful how to for me now since I've had it over 30 it's a lot of things in the past. But for you newcomers and younger people you've got to know how to get to the point where I am besides time. Immediately take off those tight jeans or shorts give your crotch A

break. No tight jeans or shorts be free if you know what I mean if you have to lock your door and sit underneath a ceiling fan after you take a cool shower it just has to be cooler down there to break the fever plus take aspirin two to three times a day cool clean and dry stress-free no sex no outdoor events in the heat no sitting long periods of time say on a motorcycle going on a road trip that won't work be careful take care of yourself

I would definitely get a blood test done. Herpes is apparently a very tricky virus, so even if cold sores are only seen on your mouth, they can be contracted genitally by oral sex or any contact with the virus. It never hurts to ask your OBGYN, this is your health. Definitely stay stress free, because that triggers most outbreaks.

How are you doing kimmy 13490 I was thinking about you and was hoping you were doing good if your boyfriend was getting pimples on his lips I wouldn't kiss him during that time. I'm sorry it's just too close for comfort for me. Well I also was rereading what I had written you and what you had written me and just because the bump is hard, and has not come to a head yet only means that your vagina your body and so on is not stressed out enough to make it come to a head you could have one come up into a head within a day and a half. If you put these things or try to copy things they do become worse. Along with the symptoms of soreness like somebody kick you right in the crotch if you press on it. Just keep your hands off of it and wash your hands a lot especially after going to the bathroom are you going to take him to get tested too?

I'm doing well the sore or whatever it was is gone now, never oozed, popped or really became open so I'm starting to trust my original swab more, as far as the hsv1 goes I already aquired it on my lips earlier this year. Considering we are only intimite with each other and if I have it I'm positive it came from him I'm not going to ask he get tested untill I know for sure just unnecessary stress for him in my opinion. Thanks for the concern Ill let you know when I know more.
