herpes or bv/yeast rash

Hello, I had sexual contact with a guy about 5 days ago, The whole time it felt extremely uncomfortable almost painful. The day after I started to notice a rash along with cottage cheese-like discharge. I went to the gyno today and told me I have a combination of bv and a yeast infection. We went ahead and did a swab test for hpv and I was just wanting some clarity that it isnt hpv. I also talked super openly with the guy and he said he has never experienced symptoms plus he has not had any sexual activity in over a year. imageimage

Hi Mary, it does look like HSV sores to me. Getting swabbed was the best thing to do. I hope I'm wrong. I assumed the intercourse was unprotected. If you did use a condom though, hsv is unlikely for the location of the sores. Most people are asymptomatic or simply in denial.

We did use a condom so I've been trying to keep my hopes up. I also have not been taking the acyclovir she gave me for incase it is herpes, only the metronidazole for the bv/yeast and it is starting to clear up.

Did they swab you for herpes?

yes we did, waiting for the results is the most nerve racking thing I have ever experienced

I agree with the others that it resembles herpes but since it was protected and he had no visible symptoms the chances are lower but not impossible. Best of luck.

Okay, I got that call from women's medical today. I am positive for hsv-1 (oral herpes), I will have a follow up appointment to discuss what it will be like as a single person with hsv.

The swab was positive for hsv 1? Have you been tested for hsv prior to this?

It's possible your partner had hsv and just never had any symptoms before.

So, is it possible to get HSV1 with protection? Did the guy went down in there? Is it possible to transmit without any opened sores?
