Herpes, or maybe not?

So for tha last 5 days or so, my vagina has been very uncomfortable. It stings (not burns) when i pee, as if there is a cut there. Also, right in the opening of the inside of my vagina has been slightly painful and irritated enough to not use a tampon. I figured maybe i was real itchy or something down there and was scratching through my panties a lot or something. So as im experiencing that, i have been dizzy, lightheaded, slight fever, cold sweats at night, and over all just not well at all. I told my mom these symptons as well as what's goin on in my vagina, and she told me that tjose are signs or herpes. So I had my boyfriend take a look, and we spotted several tiny red bumps. Naturally, freaking out takes me to the urgent care. I told her of my symptoms and turns out i have an extremely bad uti. I also had her check the small bumps (theyre on my labia). She said they could possibly be herpes but im currently waiting on results from the blood test. Also i just noticed l my clit hurting within the last few hours. They dont look like blisters, i cant feel them only see them. No white. Just freaked ouuuut.

Cortisone is bad for active sores and could make it worse, unless the cream also contains acyclovir. Use topical lidocaine for pain relief instead.
Herpes lesions don't have to blister (only happens on regular skin, not mucosal skin) and can turn up as sores that eventually heal in up to two weeks or so (first outbreak). You won't get scabbing if it's on mucosal skin. Herpes carriers without recognizable symptoms are common, so that could be like your partner. Outbreaks can be related to periods, but not always.

The first outbreak can be awful, but you will get over it (2-3 weeks, but much improved after the first week) and it won't be nearly as bad again. If you and your bf are young, this is probably Type 1, which is way better to have (recurs far less, not very infectious genitally). Hang in there, and drink more!
