Thats horrendous for you, im on crutches full time after a hip fracture so can definitely see how depressing not getting out and about can be.
what does your surgeon think the prognosis is, are they thinking another op is the only option or have they referred you for Physio to strengthen the muscles which keep the hip in place.
ask for hydrotherapy it is absolutely amazing

I agree that working on strengthening muscles is vitally important to reduce. the risk of additional dislocations. Cheers, Richard

Not sure where you are at, but i would look for a second opinion from some one that specializes in complex revision / replacement. usually they are at major city teaching hospitals in US. Not sure exact name, but I know they have them in other countries.
I was told by multiple local doctors that i would end up high risk for dislocation and life time restrictions. I was able to send xrays to hospital in advance to see if i was canidate for any of their doctors. I ended up going to new york city hospital for special surgery and had a replacement by the complex revision group. One year out and only limitation is no running marathons
hope you can find someone to help

I had hip revision 9 weeks ago at Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC too. Excellent hospital & excellent surgeon! MY legs which were uneven after first surgery are now even & the angle of my hip was changed! Very pleased! Try & get a second opinion from a REVISION SPECIALIST. Good luck!

I'm in the same boat as you, but my dislocation came after revision surgery following 3 dislocations. Dr wants to wait and see if it happens again (easy for him to say). Then a revision of my revision of my THR ugh. I dont walk right, and terrified of every movement that it will come out again. Now I have a very noisy, clicky clunky joint.
Wish you well, hang in there.

Hello there,
I am 10 days post op from having hip revision surgery due to my original replacement dislocating 3 times in 18 months...the most painful and frightening experiences I have ever had.
I am in the UK...., after seeking a second opinion from a NHS surgeon, it was decided to revise the hip replacement using a "dual mobility" implant...this type is apparently the implant of choice for repeat dislocators...it has an extra lining.
if you google it and look at images you will see how it works...
I hope this helps...
