Hip replacement 2inch length difference-constant hamstring pain

Had my right hip replaced nearly a year ago, my 2 inch leg length discrepancy was immediately noticeable straight after my op and has not changed in this time. In this year I have had constant pain running up the back of my leg and my bum, my physio said its my syatic nerve my surgeon says it's the hamstring pulling but either way sitting down on my coccyx hurts. My surgeon says my hip is in at a slight angle so he will do it again and correct the 2 inch difference. I feel like I've swapped one pain for another. Having the replacement was the worse thing I've ever done and now I have to did it again. I couldn't work for 6 months, got into debt, my surgeon said this time round I should be back to work within 4 weeks, how realistic is this I wonder? I'm hoping for a better outcome, I'm 42 and work full time, we missed out on many holidays these passed 5 years for various reasons but I finally got a job with good pay and didn't pay child care no more as my daughter started secondary school, we finally started saving and then I had the op, I thought I would be back to normal after 6 weeks 8 weeks at most but it just didn't happen, my knee got torn in the op so I couldn't even drive for months. Finally back on my feet with my knee and hip even though the muscle is painful not the hip itself and I have to do it all again. What's your thoughts? I'll have to get it done either way because I want to get rid of the 2inches.😘

Two inches is totally unforgivable - I would be considering legal action if that was me, plus a change of surgeon, as with my THR problems I wouldn't want the same surgeon messing me up any more.

Can't agree more with rocketman, that is a very unacceptable outcome and i would be booking appointment with solicitor, up to half an inch is possible quite common but they are supposed to measure and measure again.
If they cant get it right then it's scarey because they are supposed to be the experts.
Changing surgeon sounds like a good plan as well

it sounds as though you have had a horrendous experience and understandably are worried! I am 5 weeks post op after a THR (am 45 and tore my hip cartilage badly, also had arthritis). i had op done by a surgeon who specialises in robotic assisted surgery which one of the main aims is key precision to prevent any length descrepency. I have healed well, not needed pain relief after wk 2. started physio week 3 and am now walking totally unaided for short distances ~ however ~ I work in a primary school and definitely am not fit for work and wont be for at least another 6 weeks. By the sounds of it, you need to go through it again to try and even your leg length otherwise you will always have pain which would be awful. I think you really could do with seeking other professional advice. I really hope you get sorted x
