feel like this fibro has won I feel like a shell of the person I once was I have had fibro for years but was only diagnosed a few months back although that in itself makes me mad as over the years I had mri did on my neck twice x rays too my knee hip shoulder all through pain so should have been picked up on before I got to this level

Do you feel depressed the doctors say that's a joke try living with constant pain and they would be depressed aswell.

They say fibro isn't a progressive condition but mines has felt like it's getting worse

Feel for you precious, unfortunately with most of us, it took a long time to be diagnosed, it is worse sometimes than others as it sort of goes into a remission,-usually only a few days at a time..for a little while, at least mine does, that's why it's sooooo bad when it come back,,. In remission periods, it's still there but not as bad...stay strong...it's just awful I know...I've had the diagnosis for over twenty years now. But have few year now but no one really understands our pain, often they think it's just in our heads heads - (as if) .then depression sets in-(gee I wonder why)-goes with the territory, there needs to be a huge campaign worldwide explains this, so that everybody knows exactly what it is...however, most doctors don't even know what it's all about...I had to take control of my own health- demanding at times with doctors..yes..but it worked out ok, all those years ago..be encouraged-take courage..you are not alone..also with google and sites like this..they.will really help you,.once all your meds etc are sorted you will feel much better..and be a voice for others who are struggling..also lots of hot water bottles are excellent as is hydrotherapy-just going to your local pool...be blessed.,:-) Australia

chris, I take Boots Calcium and Magnesium tablets at twice the recommended dose and they help quite a lot with the pain. Most fibro patients are magnesium deficient. Baths with Epsom Salts help too because that is magnesium sulphate. The magnesium does take a while to build up in your system but in my case I have had much improvement. For sleep try valerian tablets available at low cost on Ebay (as are large bags of Epsom Salts).

Also for sleep try lavender oil in a diffuser or a few drops on your pillow.

Hi Chris, I do not suffer with this condition however when I have trouble trying to get a good nights sleep I too take valerian root PLUS a half mug of camomile tea. Even 2 camomile tea bags which will guarantee a better nights rest. The camomile tea I take a good hour before I decide to turn in and the valerian root pill just before I go to bed. You will probably wake up but will hopefully just doze off again. Wishing you and other suffers less pain. Sending positive vibes. By the way any of you poor sufferers ever tried Reiki Healing? This could help to alleviate your pain a little?

Me again! Good old fashioned BAY LEAF not Baileys as my late darling Mum would call them, is medicinal!! Not just for cooking!  Righty here goes. Take a Bay Leaf and wash it and split it. Boil some water in a PAN not kettle with the Bay Leaf in it. (We've a saucepan just for our Bay Leaf when the need arises) rarely now thank goodness! Not too much water - about a 2 mugs. Let this simmer for about 5 mins. Let it cool and DRINK this water! (not extremely pleasant but neither is too unpleasant - DO NOT ADD SUGAR!!! Leave the Bay Leaf in the cup whilst drinking. It will soothe your IBS. It helps digestion. It will alleviate tummy ache. Alleviate wind pains. How do I know? In Italy the elders would give suckling babies who had colic and wind (here we would use Gripe Water)! telling my age! My late mother-in-law taught me and I pass this on to the world! One of my colleagues years ago who suffered with IBS was in such pain (had left Buscopan at home) and I just happened to have Bay Leaf in my drawer. Using the kettle (we had no cooking facilities) I boiled water and stood the Bay Leaf in it and told her to drink it! She passed this remedy on to her family and friends.lol It really does wonders and even now if anybody has a problem with their tummy we use it. It also stimulates bowel movement.Sooooo! Keep Bay Leaf in your cupboard (and Baileys if you want too)! Good Luck Alllol

Apparantly this condition comes on in the first place through some sort of shock  eg..a car accident..or being in shock by very bad., Shocking news-mine was this case...I had to find out WHY. I had this condition and that's what I found everything that I asked or dud pointed to the same conclusion...I asked the specialist and researched it...it was some years later however  that the symptoms started to appear...that's why I thought how could it be that....but it was...be blessed..:-) xxx have a great day..

How great is that a Fibromyalgia Hospital, awesome, feel blessed, I'm in Australia to get a doc that knows all about Fibro is great..I ended up with a consultant whose main area if doctoring is diagnosing disease/syndromes and I only knew about him because my daughter knew him well from work..I felt very blessed indeed..MAGNESIUM AND VIT D are of enormous benifit to us..:-) xxx

My fibro is just in its infancy but what I finding is that each time I injure myself I don't quite get over that and hurt myself again with a fall of some kind, I have revirted to wearing my neck collar all of the time when I am out and tend not to get out as much as I used to.

All the best I hope you are lifted by all of our best wishes

Unfortunately, when ever I get sick with anything else my Fibro seems to flare up really bad too, I've actually thought about wearing a neck brace as I have had Benign Position Vertigo BPT now for 11 years-I've  every test known to man, fortunately it was nothing sinister..my balance is really bad...often thought if I could go out and not look up or down or to the sides by turning my head it would be better..must give it at try I use a walking stick and a walker for balance now..thats a real bother to do..even gave my driving license up..now that was a huge for me...so independent ..be blessed, hope it works well for you... xxOz.,
