Holiday Poll

Hello ladies (and men)

I'm off to Palma Nova on 8th Sept with bf and his family. Our first AI as we usually go SC. Now, do I take the blueys or not! I'm in debate with myself ha ha.

I've lost 12lbs in 6 weeks so far and I have 1st 12lb to lose before I can put my 50lb loss Weight watchers certificate back on the wall (I obtained it last May and 12 months later it had to come back down!)

I swim a lot, not just holiday casual I will really pace myself when away so I don't know what to do for the best. As I'm writing this I'm thinking I'll take them but maybe not the day before I'm going to wear the white linen trousers ha ha.

I'm really looking forward to our holiday, I've behaved more than not these last 6 weeks thinking \" I won't eat that now I'll save it for hols\" attitude.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Sarah :D

taffysarah...well done on the loss....when away in May (Half Board) I stopped for a week....that doesn't mean I ate a lot....I ate sensibly, even had a few deserts. With hindsight I could have coped with blueys as well but the thing that clinched not taking them for me was the fact that should one have got an ordinary tummy bug and diarrohea (sp?) you wouldn't be able to take Immodium at the same time as the one would be fighting the other in the bowel. I am also going away on 9 September and will go off again for the very same reason. The hotel we are going to has an Olympic sized pool and I, like you, am hoping to get a proper swim in a decent pool rather than just a dip to cool down. I didn't put on any weight in May by the way.

Have a good holiday whatever you decide.

ive just returned from 2 holidays over 3 weeks and i have lost 5 lbs. I would take the blueys and try to follow the plan - all that salad, fruit and plain meat sounds great.

Im not sure about the science etc but i had less fat about 15g a day and more calories about 1700 so that i could have the off alcoholic drink.

I'm so proud of myself as i normally put on 7 - 10 lbs when im on hols.

Sorry, forgot to say that I asked the Dr about the Immodium alongside Orlistat before I decided and the answer was a definite not together.

we're going to egypt AI next week and I have decided to come off the blues for a week, my reasons being:

    a) i dont know what food will be available or how it will be cooked

    b) i trust myself to know whats good and bad, plus if i can manage a week it will be a good indication to know if i can cope without the blueys when the time comes!!

    c) i am active on holiday, lots of swimming, volleyball, walks etc

    d) its one week of the year (and too hot to turn down the free ice cream....)

    enjoy your hols!

    Hey guys,

Thanks for all the response. I'm still thinking but leaning more to taking them. I've had a stomach bug this weekend and managed without immodium, just stick to ginger tea and a hot water bottle.

Still 2 weeks to go so plenty of opportunities to change my mind, then again and again. x

Personally, I would leave them at home. Everyone deserves a holiday and it is nice to try something new to eat without worrying about the after effects.

But don't take it as carte blanche to eat everything in site.

I am off to France in a couple of weeks and probably won't take them with me. I didn't take them when I went to China as the thought of orange oil and chinese trough loos was too scary!

    Lelly xx

I went to Sardinia for two weeks and stayed in a posh hotel for the first week - the food was amazing! I ate what I wanted and carreid on taking the blues. The worst effects were after sea bass - was worth it though! Was in a vila and eating out for the 2nd wk and knew i would indulge in italian pizza - didn't take them for the second week but back on them now and didn't put any weight on while I was away. I did swim a lot in the 2nd wk. Just do what you feel comfortablesmile and enjoy ur holiday!

HI, FIRST OF ALL, CONGRATULATIONS ON THE LOSS. IF IT WERE ME, I WOULD TAKE THEM WITH ME, THAT WAY, YOU COULD FOLLOW THE PLAN AS USUAL, AND IF YOU WANTED TO OVER INDULGE ONE DAY, SIMPLY DO NOT TAKE THEM. ORLISTAT IS ONLY ACTIVE FOR A FEW HOURS AFTER YOU TAKE THEM, SO THEREFOR YOU COULD HAVE A HEALTHY LUCH, THEN HAVE A NAUGHTY TEA. IF YOU FELT LIKE YOU THEN WANTED TO TAKE THE ORLISTAT, AND HAVE A EVENING DATE WITH THE LOO, YOU CAN. IT CAN BE LIKE A BACKUP PLAN TO HELP YOU FROM GOING COMPLETELY OFF. OR YOU COULD JUST THINK HOW YOU WOULD FEEL IF YOU GAINED 5LB BY TIME YOU GOT BACK?

Yep I've decided, definately taking them with me. Will take them most days but depending on the food might skip the odd one or two.

I know everyone is different but for me, personally I need the control. 12lb in 6 weeks isn't super fast but I'm happy with it. If I don't have big brother (blueys) then I know I will go off the rails. I'll be absolutely gutted then when I get back.

8 week weigh in Tuesday.... ooooh the nerves! I'm going to the drs the following Monday before I fly too just so I know for definite my weight before I go. The problem with me is its all psychological. If I don't write down what I east I feel like I'm cheating. I might eat the odd naughty thing but I still have to write it down lol.

Anyway, enough babble. Thanks everyone! x

I've just got back from egypt after a week of AI, didnt take the tabs with me, glad i didnt as there was no nutritional info on anything and the staff's english was poor! (Not to mention my fussy eating made my options limited!) I find it takes 2 days for the blues to be out of my system and not suffer the effects, i didnt wanna have some accident in the pool or whatever and i am confident enough to know if i have gained a few pounds they will come off smile i can't just skip a blue at a meal and hope for the best :?
