I'm currently in a particularly bad depression flare up and have noticed that I occasionally get these strange pangs in my chest like I can physically feel my loneliness. They aren't painful, but it feels like there's an empty space in my chest that can't be filled. I've had my chest feel heavy before with it too sometimes, but I've never heard anyone else mention this sensation. Am I the only one who's experienced this?

Yes Alle, I get this especially when waking in the morning - I call it "having a heavy heart" which is a common expression used when people have a feeling of dread. Hope you get some relief soon. Best wishes.

yes, it just comes on and feels like there is nothing pleasing in the world, is that how you feel? Its always at its worst upon waking and sometimes if i meet someone who has lovely good news for them, it comes back and i feel i never have anything nice happen. how do you combat it.

Hi Alle - yes, I've experienced that many times in life. Sometimes it is when I realise that I am alone - even though I like the solitude. It passes, and is just another element of this life. If it's bad, I'll get up and force myself to do something - a walk outside or exercise.
