Hope & Light at the end of the tunnel

Hi to all the newbies & oldies of the forum.

I just wanted to share with you all that my RTHR was 6 months ago, my scar has faded & most importantly I forget I've even had it done now! A positive mental attitude & daily exercises helped me 100% & I know everyone's recovery is different but I wanted to share a positive experience.

Good luck & best wishes to everyone waiting or just been done & Merry Christmas x

    Hey Fern

Its an oldie here as you know it a year today from my 1st lthr and had my right done on feb 14th and like you l can hardly feel that they have been done they are great. Can't say the same about my knee it was done in august its still sore and l can feel its been done and it gives me bother when l am sleeping or walking. Plus l still have my other knee to get done which l am holding off for aa long as l can as it is a million tines harder than the hips.

I agree with Fern hip replacements are great they have have helped me so much its just a shame my OA is spreading to other parts of my body which is ruining my 2 new hips. I wiould be so hsppy thats all l.needed done but knvow its going to my spine and knee's. But new hippies getting it done dont be scared its worth it.

Hope your ok ferrn nice hearing from you.

    Laura

So pleased for you Fern. It's good to hear positive news. I'm about 5 months on from RTHP, and feeling great! Still not v comfortable sleeping on operated side, but apart from that I feel like I did about 5 years ago, before I had all the osteoarthritis pain. Wishing all you hippies a good recovery, and happy Christmas Fern.

    Hi Fernlady,

Great to hear a positive story. I am also about 6 months and have never felt better. I also forget I have had the operation.

Daily exercises and for me cycling has hastened my recovery.

Hello Fernlady - been watching rather than participating recently.

I have been soooo busy caring for heart failure husband, he broke his leg and has been bed and chair bound for weeks now but making progress if but slowly, today got some good news from Dr's, progress, the bones are knitting they are very pleased.

Back to me after a real battle with leg length discrepancy have finally got the help I needed, no thanks to the ortheo Dr's wonderful physio and foot Dr have worked out that a shoe lift of the right height and most of my problems are solved, lastest for me is my knees are causing me alot of pain, x-ray, result have moderate arthiritis.

GP said he will refer me to hospital when it gets severe, OH thanks very much, he says to me you have been there and done this once with hips, you know the procedure, YES I do know unfortunately, not looking foward to the waiting time slowly and getting worse before they will do anything, and of course which is the worst the leg with the extra length has put stresses on that knee, surprise surprise, and even GP agreed the LLD will not have helped.

Best wishes and a happy Xmas to all my HIPPIE friends from a hot and humid Brisbane Australia.
