ive been on cita now for 6 weeks at 10mg the last 4 -5 days ive been having horrible nausea. im never sick but do come clost to it a lot. it tends to improve if i just sit down for 10 mins. but then comes again if i move about. sore the doc 2 days ago put me up to 20mg of cita. but the sickness started before that. i mentioned it to him and he said ill just have to learn to live with it. but its hard. so much on at the moment. got to pack house as moving monday. so im pretty desperate. anyone else suffering this ??

Hi Steve strangely as I read your post, sitting on my bed feeling vaguely sick. I'm on 10mg ATM. We to are about to put the house on the market! How does 20mg work better? The Meds are supposed to help!?!? I feel just as bad as when I started them. Like you, six weeks on cita.

    Sorry,no help.

      Hi Rick

Today is only my second day on 20mg. So not sure if there has been much change yet. I guess the house move on Monday is stressing me out and I've packed the house up on my own. Plus not sleeping well again. I'm trying to trust my doc and not get to anxious about feeling sick a lot but it's hard when your had anxiety in the first place lol.

Hi turvell, I've been on 20mg cit for 7 months and still have an off day now and then. That's the issue with this med so many side effects you don't know if you are sick with something or side effects of med. Some feel better after a few weeks others take months. My counselor says it may take a year for your mind and body to adjust. It's a bumpy road for awhile but you will gradually start to feel better and see the change. I'm sure the move is not helping but I've found keeping occupied and moving helps. Keep positive and keep reading this forum we all are here to help! Good luck one step at a time slow and easy!!

Hi Steve, I've just about 3 months on 10mg of Citalopram and still have off days ( sometimes a few on the trot). I too have had the nausea issues and like you feel very sick at times but they do pass and they have become fewer as time has gone on. I've had some really quite well days on 10mg and certainty nearly always better than when I first went to doctor with symptoms. I know everyone is different but I plan to stay on 10mg if I can but have no issue upping dosage if I felt unable to cope. My thoughts have always been that this medication is a help and not a cure for my anxiety problems. I need to change ways in which I live that is u helpful for my anxiety. Wishing you well. Stephen

    Morning Turvell,

Yes I and many others although this is little consquence at this time.

What I did was to eat what I fancied or what I thought I would keep down, now when I say keep down that is just a feeling. You mostly hear people suffering nausea and just that.

I had fruit, snacks ideas for meals etc., etc., so, that when I did feel hungry I had what I really fancied and ate or nibbled because you have to eat something or you will feel worse. I found that I overcame the debilitating nausea feeling by doing this and just trying to ignore it.

Like yer GP said it will pass and like many inconveniences Cita throws our way you just have to see it through (with some support here) go with the flow (with encouragement here and come out the otherside (with us pulling you through).

Keep on keeping on it will get better!

    Regards,

      Hi David

Thanks for the advice mate. ive also been finding that if i sit for 10 mins that also helps a bit. problems is im packing my house up as moving tomorrow. my anxiety is bad aswell. i assume cus ive just increased my dosgage to 20mg and im moving tomorrow morning. i know it takes time to work but 7 weeks in i thought i would feel happier than i do. unless this is what happy feels like. but i dont feel any joy about anyting. just apprehension in the main. im praying they work cus im scrared of never having a normal happy life again

You won't have a normal (whatever that is) life again because you'll have a better one, but like you know it will take time.

Just realise that you have a lot on at the moment and that can cause the odd blip or many! Just go with it and get the move over and relax the best you can.

      Regards,

      David
