How is everyone coping with the snow?

Hi everyone,
Hope this awful weather is not affecting everyone too badly :!: We had quite a lot here in Cambridge with the promise of more to come this evening. Ray had an appointment at Addenbrookes this morning and what a trip that was :!: They hadn`t even bothered to grit the main footpaths from the disabled car park.
Been on a denial trip for the past week, had a couple of good days and decided that \"I was fine now\" went mad and now I`m paying for it :!: Really, really stiff and exhausted. Will I ever learn to accept this dreadful condition and manage my life accordingly :?: Couldn`t even put my boots on this morning and struggled to walk to clinic with Ray. It`s like I think it`s all in my mind and I`m no worse than anyone else of my age. Then sonething happens, like this morning when I carried a newspaper through the hospital and when I put it down my hand and arm were aching, and I suddenly realise that no this is not normal and I really have got this awful thing :!:
Hope everyone else is doing ok, how are your wrists now Tess? Hope Di, Lindy and Ses are coping ok and not in too much pain.
Well. going to try and gather enough energy to get some dinner, on the plus side I have lost half a stone since saw GP three weeks ago. Hope I can lose a bit more before he reviews thins again in 10 days :!:

Yes we have had quite a lot of snow! You would think they would have gritted the footpath especially at a hospital of all places.
I am like you and do too much then when the pain starts think yes this illness is here to stay. Good while it lasts though! My wrists are a lot better now than they were last week. Think it was more from the osteo than fibro.
Had the clasp on my washing machine door break off today! Couldn't get washing out so Stewart gave me a skewdriver to push in to open it. Just snapped off in my hand. Have to see if can get it repaired but at least can still use it. Could be worse lol!
On my own tonight so quite with no one else here. Roll on the lighter nights.
Well done with your weight loss. You have done so well and I am proud of you. Keep up the good work.
Hope everyone else is keeping warm with this snow!

Had really heavy snow fall yesterday lasting til evening. A complete whiteout! Woke up this morning, and most of it had been washed away by the rain. Rainy, windy and cold now, but forecast says more snow late afternoon.
Great news on ur weight loss Linda, well done u! I went a trek with the dogs the other day - by evening I was hobbling around like a 90 year old. So know what u mean about thinking u can do things ....so u do them....then WHAM!! Hits u like a tonne of bricks.
Im with u on the lighter nights coming Tess. I do like all seasons. Like to see them come, and go. BUT, if Im being honest..Im getting cheesed off with winter..
Hope u get on ok at the hospital Di.

Yes our snow is melting now. Reckon more on the way in some areas on Thursday. Going with my daughter to see a childminder tomorrow who has been recommended by a friend. It is best to go see someone you know is good. Shall worry about Sophie like Amy my daughter will.
Didn't have that with Molly as I looked after her. Don't think I could cope with it now though and finished at the right time. Not to say won't have Sophie for a day in an emergency. Amy only working four days a week and has three days booked with childminder and couldn't do the Tuesday. Luckily she has several friends who will help her out. I didn't want to commit myself to doing the tuesday and would much rather be an emergency stop. My daugther Claire offered as well when she is not working. She gets quite a few Tuesdays off.
Well Di hope your injection goes well tomorrow. Have you had one
before. I had one steriod injection and tablets on another occasion but didn't seem to work for me. I also have a son Christopher who likes to be called Chris.
Well take care everyone and catch up soon.

I have a son called christopher who likes to be called chris too!!
I had an injection in my shoulder two years ago, just before my fibro diagnosis, that was more painful for a while but it did help things. I am quite lucky because my GP can do most of those injections, so he does them when necessary during a normal appointment. No- one else in the practice can do them though.
Take care

That is funny Di and Linda we have a son called christopher who likes to be called Chris.
Hope your injections work for you di and you are feeling a bit more comfortable now. Suppose I worry more because I looked after Molly. Molly was never looked after anyone other than family. Feel more relaxed knowing that the childminders we have seem have been highly recommended. I use to be a childminder when my children were small.
Only did it at first for friends and family. Then was asked by a teacher at the school if I would look after her baby and two year old. I went to her house and worked as a nanny. I wasn't registered as a childminder at the time but she didn't mind as she had known me a long time at the school and I had helped out in her class. Also her husband was a policeman so he would have checked me out no doubt. Must have looked after about twenty didnt children over the years. All grown up now and some might have children of their own.
I do find it a long night Di when stewart on nights as he leaves at 6.30 and doesn't get home sometimes until about quarter to eight in the morning.
Didn't sleep to well last night. Hope I get a better one tonight.
Hope everyone is doing ok.

Bless you Linda, unfortunately hun it is the joys of fibro!!!! doesn't it cheese you off that all the bother we have and yet some people just look at us as though we are ok \"you look well\" all daft comments you get off people and yet we feel like mmmm Poo inside, my hand is still numb from last night, playing on wii with daughter?????? I hope you can have a better night sleep tonight xxx Well done with the weight loss too xxxxx
Tess, I hope you do not have to much hastle with the door of your washing machine as I have difficulties often grasping things, so I do hope you have it fixed soon xxxx I do hope you can sleep better tonight too not long hun until Thursday
Di I hope you get the effects from the injection soon as it is probably bruised due to the injection, where the hospital put the candula in last Saturday it is bruised and sore so that is probably why you are in pain hun xxxxx, I had morphine on Saturday too and it was wierd as it was put in intravenously so felt the effect straight away, very strange feeling, tingling up my spine into my head  anyway huns I hope the gabapentine helps too xxxx I hope you feel better in the morning xxxx
Lindy I do hope you are feeling better after your Trek xxxx
I'm off to the doctors tomorrow but anyways my dear friends night night and sweet dreams xxxx

I am also getting fed up with the winter Lindy too! Like the start of it when it is nice and warm and cosy in the house but soon want the lighter nights back. It is worse for you with working and having to travel about in the snow and all weathers.!
We still have some snow left in our front garden that hasn't melted yet Ses. At least it has melted on the paths but stayed on the grass. I can manage to open washing machine door ok. Will have to wait until Stewart finished nights for it to be repaired as he might be able to do it himself.
He has five days off after his last night on Thursday. Hope you got on ok at the Drs Ses today!
Has anyone seen \"Finding Netherland\" film really worth a watch a lovely story. Got Johnny Depp and Kate Winslett in it. Also got the old lady who was in Titanic I think. Watched it on dvd yesterday when Stewart got up before he went to work. Our daughter Claire bought it and lent it to us.
Well take care all!

i got my injections yesterday and ihave been in terrible pain since, i feel im constantly moaning being in so much pain that everyone is fed up listenting to me, i cant pretend im not in pain as i cant walk as my back is killing me, my hands feel as if they have been trapped in a door.. i feel so alone so helpless, yes i am depressed but its cause of the pain. i wanted my husband to call the doctor today to ask if i could take more morphine but he just said see how u go, and went to work he is not home till 12am, so im left here feeling like i do, trying to smile for my kids.. im fed up putting on a face for people , even friends dont care anymore.... reading this it seems i want sympathy.............. I DONT... but others dont realise how helpless we feel.
i hope no one out there is feeling as sore and lonely as i do today.. thinking of u all... di xx

We havent got sky but have a digital box. My daughters keep buying different dvds so we borrow them and cheaper that way. We are lucky haven't had any more snow yet.
I do feel for you Di its not very nice when you are in so much pain and your husband not home until later. This is stewart's third night now only one to go. Its the long nights being on your own doesn't help either. I know you have your children there but they don't fully understand what pain we go through.
Well saw the childminders this afternoon. There are three of them and they look after nine children. They were all really nice and all the children were really happy and painting. I am glad I went with Amy and was really impressed with what we saw. Amy is going back to sort details out on Friday. Told her by July they would be able to have Sophie the four days. Sophie woke up and was smiling at everyone! I Amy will feel so much happier now knowing she has got some lovely childcare sorted out.
Well going now as want to sort few things out and have early night. Still didn't sleep to good again last night.

Hope this wee note finds u all well.
I remember checking out childminders when Connor was a wee boy Tess. Its so hard to put ur trust in someone else to watch ur kids. Different with family members. But, I had no need to worry. The childminder I had was an absolute angel. I don`t know what I would have done without her to be honest. She was soooo good to Connor. Treated him like her own. Was such a relief to me as I had just become a single parent, he had just started school, and everything was topsy turvy in my life. Her husband had also done the assistants course, which meant while she took care of the very little ones, he took their own 2 boys and my Connor to the bowling, McD`s etc. I could go to work knowing that Connor was in good, safe hands after school til I got home. I had her for a year, then Connor used to go into the breakfast club (for which I felt so guilty as it was at 7.45), then after school club til 5.30. Had to do these things though or I wouldnt have been able to work. He enjoyed it, being with the other kids - specially with him being an only child.
Im sure your daughters mind will be at rest knowing she`s got that all sorted.
Snow is all away again here, but AGAIN more is forecast. Still not snowed in though..

It is a good thing when you can find a reliable childminder. I was a childminder myself when all my children were smaller. As soon as we walked into the house you could tell they were all really lovely people and loving towards the children. They were cuddling the little ones that had woke up from a sleep.
Well had busy day today and lots of snow. Woke at 4am this morning looked out the window and all the cars were white with it freezing. Dozed off for a bit longer looked out at 6am and everywhere covered in thick snow. My poor daughter who is training to be paramedic was on nights and working at ambulance station in St. Ives, Cambs that is about normally forty minutes away from where we live. She left work at 8.20 and didn't get back home until 12.30 with the snow on the roads and only been able to travel 20 mile per hour and with lorries breaking down. Bless her she was shattered when she got home. She had also been out driving in the ambulance on night shift. Luckily not at work for next five days now.
My other daughter and partner couldn't get to work so at 8.30 walked round to our house in the snow. My eldest daugther's partner couldn't get into work either and her little girls school was closed. They all came round our house and made to snowmen in the garden while snowball fights going on. My husband should have gone to bed as had been on nights but didn't want to go until our daughter got home from st. ives. It was his excuse I think to play in the snow lol. He build an igloo for Molly out of the snow as he is very inventive. Molly went up to him and said \"grandad why are you building an igloo as there are no eskimos in this country\". He told her he was building it for her. lol  The things the little ones come out with she is only five. I was the lucky one inside with Sophie or else I would have been out there. I did nip out for a few minutes while Sophie was asleep.
Need early night tonight with a houseful today. Makes my quiet night not so bad now with Stewart on his last night at work. We haven't had as much snow as that in a long while.
Well hope everyone else is alright with the snow. My walking boots haven't been used so much this week.
Take care everyone and sleep well.

well my left hand is still numb and today we went to the hospital to take Mike to get his xrays done and both hands were causing havoc, my right hand little finger and four finger has had pins and needles all day, I think I have a trapped nerve or something in my shoulders, as I got a arched memory foam pillow last night as I am having problems sleeping and so last night i slept on my back, so i think this is where the problem has come from...... I cant sleep on my sides because of my hip so I have slept on my stomach but now my shoulders are unbearable and I need help in bed and so I got this pillow to help??? nightmare!!!!!
Tess I haven't seen that film and like Lindy we have sky, which again I do not watch the movies neither??? I have bought a connector to go upstairs so we can watch sky upstairs but I can't see it working???? last night for your hubby's nights hun xxxx
Bless you Di, I am sorry to maybe ask this again but have you tried Lyrica as it is better than gabapentine, I think maybe this med is not working for you hun, or you may need it increasing xxxx you were saying about friends, well my family don't bother with me hun, and I was brought up by my nana, my auntie was suppose to stand by me after my nana passed but she doesn't even speak to me and I do not know why??? I phoned her last year due to getting obscene phone calls from ex , having to change my telephone number and I spoke to her daughter and she didn't want to talk to me, or should I say she didn't make an effort to want to talk to me, so I think well I haven't done anything so so be it??? I think she thinks I am a malingerer or something as I had to give up my job due to this dreadful condition!!!! but hey what can you do???? I just do not speak to people that are either upsetting or do not treat me as I would treat them, as life is stressful enough xxxxx I feel my home family and some others are the most important aspect in my life and you all are special too  so please do not get upset hun, go back to your GP as that is all you can do until you see the pain specialist xxxx anyway hun after all this I do hope today is a better day xxxxx sorry to go on a bit xxxxxx
I hope you are ok too today Lindy, is the snow there again???? I told the doctor I have put in for dla again and he said yes I was definitely entitled to it but all he can do is fill in the form and it is not up to him whether I get it or not....... which yes I understand this, he is a good doctor as he has done more for me in five months than the last surgery I was in did for me in 12 years!!!!! I just told him about the time I had in hospital and how my hands are going numb, I said \"could it be the fibro\" and he said it could be? but I am to tell obviously the Rhuematologist which is this month!!!! I went on to to tell him though about the other night getting a take away and it went through me and later on I was bleeding so I was a bit concerned about this as my mum has ulcerated colitis, so again I will tell the Rhuematologist......... I do have to have an examination though which I do not like the idea of  I am so sick of one thing after another????? anyway I do hope you have had a good day Lindy and sorry for going on too xx
Well my dear friends I am going to go for a bath as the pain is driving me nuts in my shoulders and hips, hoping it will settle my hand numbness and pins and needles, take care everyone hugs to you all xxxx
