20 year old son was diagnosed eleven days ago with minor case of pneumonia (small in lower left lung). During exam, doctor also noticed he had high heart rate of 123 bpm. Said due to illness. I took him back today for follow up and son finished his zpac antibiotics and feels great. Has a small residual cough. Doctor took another xray and said his lungs look good - just some residual inflammation but to come back at the end of the month to make sure it is all clear. Again, during exam his heart rate was 120. Doctor said as long as his heart rate is below 100 at home, that it is ok. Son never had problems breathing with diagnosis or chest pain. Still doesn't.
I did take heart rate at home and it has come down to 98-100. Son said he was stressed in exam.
Since he had an elevated heart rate in initial exam due to pneumonia, and I have read it can cause this as well as doctor confirming, I wanted to know if anyone had also had increased heart rate and when did yours finally start decreasing?
I will be tracking his heart rate now every day.
Thoughts?
Most appreciated.

Isn't tracking his heart rate daily only going to increase his anxiety?
