Hi i Had an accident where i got knocked backwards onto a concrete floor by a 180kg weight,i have seen doctor and chiripractor who said i have traumatic ls facet whiplash and sacroiliac joint irritation caused by landing heavily on my bum.I have been of work 4 weeks my job is standing stacking shelves for 10 hr shifts which obviously involve a lot of bending and lifting  i wondered how long before i go back as i am worried if i go back to early my back and neck wont get a proper chanve to heal.as when i do any lifting at the minute even carrying a bag of shopping my back hurts and i cant sleep properly since i have been given naproxen and amitrypline,i have never had trouble with my back before this.

Hi, I'm not sure how long it would be but I'm pretty sure it will be a while. I have done something to my back, scans so far come back ok however having another one, but I have lots of nerve damage. I've not been through trauma like you and been told it's going to be a long journey. It's been ten weeks today and still unable to work. I also take them pills plus tramadol. I'm having a hard time with nhs and going to see a chiropractor tomorrow for extra help and support. Was it worthwhile when you went?

Hi yes I do think chiropractor is helping but as soon as I do anything too physical it really hurt, chiropractor is expensive though £65 for consultation then £30 a time after that .If it is tissue damage you have then I don't think that a scan show that up or whiplash don't show up on a scan . I just get the impression the chiropractor don't under how physical my job is.

Oh well I hope you find some relief soon. It's hard to get help sometimes you need to be very forceful, and I find everyone tells me different, so confusing. Good luck and a speedy recovery

    Hi

I work in a supermarket at night stacking shelves and it's a very physical job for the fittest of people never mind someone with back problems.

I am in a different situation and I find that if I stop work or put on lighter duties the pain is worse.

i have found over the years I have found some alternative ways of working which has helped.

Like working straight off of cages or boards so I don't have to deck first and bend more.

i really carn't advise on how long it will take for you to feel better.

I just wanted to add my support an hope you get some relief soon

Well I've had my pain since last nov before that on and off for over 20 years once you get a bad back they say you have it for life.

Taking amitriptyline helps for sleeping but do get a hang over the next day I use a si belt for lower back support you can buy them off Amazon ebay also I use a cold pack and a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel
