How long should I be coughing up mucus from a bout of bronchitis?

Hi, a few weeks ago (3?) i had a common cold and by the end of it i think it developed into acute bronchitis. I had a dry cough for a few days and then it started becoming a productive cough. The mucus is commonly brownish or even blackish, i think as a result of marijuana smoking. I havent been to a doctor yet. Is it always needed to be evaluated for expected bronchitis? How long (upper limit) can i expect this productive cough? Coughing mucus is really my only symptom, more common in the morning and night. Other than that i feel pretty good (all other cold symptoms went away). Posting because the ongoing of this symptom has made my anxiousness worse.

I think you should see a doctor just in case it may be something more serious. You may need some antibiotics I think you should at least get your chest listened to. If you leave a chest infection untreated it can turn into something worse. It maybe that there is nothing wrong but if you are getting anxious thinking about your symptoms seeing a doctor could put your mind at rest.
