How much bleeding is the norm for anal fissure? Please share your experiences!

I have had a fissure for 6 months and my own bleeding ranges from a tiny amount less than the size of a pinky fingernail to an amount similar as if I had wiped while having a light period (although this is the rarity and has only occurred a couple times). One time I did see blood in the toilet itself just at the very end of the BM...I would like to know others' experiences with bleeding caused by a fissure...

I have had bleeding similar to that. My bleeding was sometimes after I pooped, it would seep out of the poop and some on my anus. This is normal. Hope it gets better soon for you!

I have been to two specialists (colon/rectal doctors) re: fissures.  In my opinion, there is a lot of blood when it happens.  They don't seem alarmed at all.  Tell me to keep soft stools which I do and use a salve on rectum.  (in my case, evidently, fissures were a result of having hemmoroid surgrey - been nice had doctor that fixed hemmoroids that started bleeding told me that the surgery could lead to other type of rectal problems that cause bleeding.  I have talked to others with this (which I never even knew was a problem for people) and they indicated that their doctors just said keep stools soft.  Rectum evidently bleeds alot.  Doesn't stop me from freaking out but this is what i have been told.  Next step is botox or surgery which i understand can cause other problems.  So basically learn to live with it.  Yours sounds like it is due to hard stools and all I can say is fiber fiber fiber.  Dont freak out like me - it appears that more people have this than we know and rectum bleeds easily once torn.  heals, retares, etc. etc. etc. (i was told red blood from rectum, dark blood from stomach)  My daughter tells me she has this and her dr says just what I said above.  I didn't realize she was also dealing with this but she seems to be handling it better than me.
