How to come off Mirtazapine

Posted , 3 users are following.

I'm currently taking 40 mg of Prozac and 7.5 of Mirtazapine at night for insomnia due to my high anxiety. I've been on the Mirtazapine for 10 days. The Mirtazapine helps me sleep but I've read the horrid affects of trying to come off it, so I'm wanting to get off them now. Any advice on how to come off it at 10 days at 7.5 mgs? My psychiatrist seems to think that it's not a big deal due to it being a "low" dose.

From all I have read there is no such thing as a low-dose with this medication. no matter what some doctors say! I am on 7.5 and I’m following the posts here to see the best course of action as it is really doing a number on me.

7.5mg is nothing and doesn't have any antidepressant effects. At this dose it only acts as an antihistamine and gets prescribed to a lot of people who need a sleep aid so I'm sure you'll be just fine.

I was on Mirtazapine for around 5 months up to 45mg for anxiety. It did help somewhat but my psychiatrist and I decided to try something else as it only had partial efficacy. I came off from 45mg to 0 in 7 days and had no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. I'm sure I could have stopped cold turkey without any symptoms.

Strange how so many people have such a hard time coming off it.
