How to cope with anxiety for the coming week

Posted , 4 users are following.

I took a HIV test at the doctors today and its going to take a week to get the results via text. The problem is I have an exam before then and on the day im supposed to get the results i'll be at my parents house.

I am absolutely terrified because i think its going to be positive.

How do i get through the next week without anxiety controlling me??

    Hi Jessica.

I am assuming you have taken this test as you feel you may be at genuin risk and not because you are a hypochondriac who has convinced themselves they have it (which can be part of OCD.) your situation all I can really offer is for you to keep yourself occupied. You also have to make allowances for yourself and accept that some moments are going to be dreadful...This is all perfectly normal.

Try not to think worse case scenario...remember that until your results are in you do not know.

Not knowing is terrifying. The unknown scares us. Be kind to yourself and make allowances for your feelings during your waiting period.

I hope this helps, if just a little.

Jessica, we all do things haven't brought anything on yourself. people do things sometimes, we often make choices that are right at the time but sadly we later regret - for whatever reason. You aren't a bad person and we all have regrets. No one is perfect.

I do not know your situation but I am sure your results will be fine so try not to worry too much smile

Jessica I feel for you so much there is nothing worse than waiting for results, having suffered health anxiety myself I can kind of relate.

Unfortunately it's not going to be an easy week.. can u confide in your parents?

Please try to stay positive and fight the anxiety... no matter what the outcome you will be fine u need to remember they are constantly investing in new medication for this virus and it is very control able with the right medication..

Stay positive I wish you the best outcome
