Hungry ...

Hello everyone,

hope you're all doing well?

I had my band fitted nearly 4 weeks ago now, and I am struggling to keep my food intake down.  I am hungry again and can eat most things bread no problem etc ...   I am booked for my first infill at the end of this month but I am worried that I will put weight back on before then !   Is this normal to feel so hungry again at this stage ???

Im same stage and feel exactly the same!

I havent had any bread or meat yet. How did you cope with that?

Found quorn mince a godsend and really filling.

My consultant did tell me i would feel almost 'normal' once everything is healed, and that i may put on a few pound before band fill. How have you done weightloss so far?

My bandfill is 3 weeks away. Ive been told its going to make a big difference. I hope so!

    Hey,

I'm just about 2 weeks post op and I can definately feel my hunger returning. I am still on liquids at the moment and think I'm eating around 1000 call a day. The thought of going back to soup and shakes makes me feel ill so I've been havine a few yogurts as well to get me through.

I think it is normal for hunger to return once your stomach around the band has calmed down and is less inflamed from the trauma of the band and stitches. This means that there isn't much restriction. You should feel some after your first fill but from what I've heard it can take a couple to even feel it!

I think that it will be sheer willpower to curb eating until the band is working properly. Try up in veggies with meals. maybe have a few protein shakes a day as well - i find them quite filling when I make them thick.

Hang in there......p.s. I would love a crisp sandwich about now smile xx

Same timescale as you Rosie, I've been told that my surgeon has left some fluid in my band. I am having my first band fill on the 24th Feb. I've felt hungry too, but have managed to control this with either water or a little glass of friut juice (innocent, as its not from concentrate). I've not eaten bread, pasta or "normal" food since the pre Op diet. Hunger is normal at this stage as you stomach recovers from the Op. Don't worry too much, as once the band is filled, you shouldn't feel hungry all the time.

    Good luck 😊😊😊😊

    Hi Rosie

Sorry to hear that your struggling. Having any biatric surgery is not an easy disission to make. Keep in there and be positive. Eat on a tea plate and only level not heaped. The band is new so your stomach needs to adjust but it can and will expand if you allow it to. You have to control it but watching portion size and what you eat. I had band 10 years ago with no success and with many fills which had no effect And now going for by pass. Depressing yes but its not impossible just keep positive and u will succeed. you will be fine. Good luck and congrats.
