Hydrocephalus Prognosis after shunt syrgery

A year on since surgery to install a shunt I feel great! my question is about the medium term prognosis. I realise that any reply might not be wholly relevant but I am just interested. I am in my early 50's and was diagnosed via a MRI with a narrowing of an acqeduct suggestive of long term hydrocephalus last may 2008 . My symptoms detiorated during mid 2008 and I was offered surgery in december 2008 which I had....and I have both immediately post op. and subsequently felt brilliant. What do I do next? can anyone tell me what the prospects are likely to be or share their experiences?

I have options.

I have just been diagnosed with hydrocephalous, my doc is sending me to a specialist  and probably a MRI. It is small 4mm but present. What can I expect? I was diagnosed with PMR and put on prednisone which helped my joint pain but now this?   Gary

Hi.. My mum has just been diagnosed with NPH and I was wondering how you are getting on after your operation?

Hi, this is my first post here and I really need some advice. I am convinced that my husband has NPH but despite MRI scan and two doctors' opinions that he has either Psp (progressive supra nuclear palsy), MSA (multiple system atrophy) or Dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson's. He is getting very close to needing full time care and I am desperate for someone to check out NPH before we get to that stage. How do I find a doctor who is prepared to do the lumbar puncture necessary to confirm or rule out NPH for good ?
