So you have a bowel prolapse. He is probably making a cut at the top of the vagina to tighten it so sex will be similar to when you were younger (tighter vagina) so you and your partner will feel a difference. That's what I think he meant but you would be much better asking your consultant who I hope is a Urogynaecologist. When are you having the operation? Have you seen the Useful Resource on the Genitourinary home page? There's lots of useful information there particularly the South Tees information.

Healing wishes to you hon. It is a loooonnng journey you are on. Make sure you rest properly and don't think your ok after a few weeks! ! Even if you are feeling better. Keep in touch with your progress xx

Wow, no catheter then? Go you. Glad it's all going good. A "designer vagina" to boot too!! Best of luck for good recovery.
