    Hi Sophie

Im approaching my 8th week on Monday on 20mg citalopram and im feeling no benefit from them.. I have severe ringing in my ears and feel very tired all day every day and have no motivation to do anything.. I am going to move up to 30 mg next week and give them more of a chance though before i think about coming off them.. I was on fluoxetine for 10 years before cit and after 6 weeks i felt great on them and was back to work and socialising again..

Dont let my experience with citalopram so far put you off though, there are many people on here who have had great results within 6 -10 weeks although there are many more people waited 3 - 6 months for good results, so keep powering through with them and fingers crossed its the right medicine for you x

I have been on 10mg of citalopram since 1st of July and I felt a significant difference at around the 8 week mark. I now have more good days than bad and it is definitely helping me. However I do feel it is a mixture of the citalopram, counselling and lifestyle changes I have made like cutting out caffeine, trying to eat healthy food and trying to exercise regularly! Keep going and if you still find its not having an effect then go back to the doctor and they might recommend something else smile

I am on 5 weeks too. Started to feel better by about 60-70%. Still waking up with anxiety. Some days are better than others.  But I am hoping just a few more weeks will help. Very frustrating because its still hard to eat and get motivated to do anything but think about how I feel.

Hi cara I am on week 1 on citalopram 10mg. I too find that my anxiety is heightened sometimes throughout the night or early morning. It’s a battle every morning but I’m really hoping for some relief soon. Are you taking your citalopram in evening? Or mornings?
